Visual Basic and Databases 2019 Edition: A Step-By-Step Database Programming Tutorial

Good information, easy to read, provides a very solid foundation for Visual Studio 2019 and Access
As others have written, this is a hefty book. Imagine a ream of paper, plus 100 or 200 hundred more sheet of paper that has a sturdy glue binding. This is what the book is in terms of mass and volume. But don't let that scare you off! The best part of the information is that it will help me as a project lead to understand Visual Studio 2019 plus databases. We have one work application that is written in Visual Basic, so I'll be able to dialog and properly understand my coworker's efforts as this only and recently ported application to Visual Studio 2019 continues with code maintenance.

Very good content, but...
When the book arrived, I was a little shocked by the condition it arrived in. The overall build quality of the book was not exactly what I expected, and one of the corners was already creased and cracked out of the box. But that's okay though, it's nothing major. As for the contents. I haven't gone through much of it yet, but there are some things that should only appear in electronic versions, like the "Download" link as shown in the attached image. Without the actual web address, I really have no idea where to go for that download. Again not such a big deal, but I just thought this type of issue should be addressed in paperback versions of the book.Other than these, I believe this is a fantastic book and I will definitely learn a lot from it.

Readabilty and Clarity
What I like is the code samples and improved readability.Initially I had a problem with "SQL" and "ACCESS" coding samples being within the same document on my kindle.Since speaking with customer service they have improved the readability of this with the PDF Paperback Replica version. I found them to be proactive in resolving this issue.

Worst Tech book Ever
Avoid this book, attached are several rookie errors in graphics and just in the first chapter. Confusing and contradictory statements regarding capitalization and questionable advice to proceed under old coding standards instead of new Visual Basic coding standards.Worst part is the sample downloads. If you purchased this book new you could get the download by sending considerable personal information to the author, including the last 4 numbers of the credit card that you purchased the book with. If you bought it used there is a $39+ fee to get a link to the sample downloads. The sample code and database would be helpful in studying. Without the sample data there is considerable information missing. Can't believe that they are suggesting this book as a college level course reference book.Update: Beginning to understand why this book is primarily limited to examples. The author's over 2 dozen books is made up primarily of "KIDS" books. This explains why you can go through this book and end up without any real knowledge of the database programming. If you are a professional looking for a deep dive into database programming in Visual Basic don't look here. I found the editorial review quite misleading.

Good book for database access with datagrids, but no direct DB examples
The book is very good for intro into database access and control from a classroom perspective, but if you have a basic knowledge of programming and DB access, you are past only using datagrids to read, write and move through a DB. I was able to figure out everything but how to ADD records to table using other types of data input. It has many other interesting tidbits and tips for forms and DB control.

Libro / Corso

The best of the best for database understanding
Probably the best text book I have purchased. The presentation is first class and the content logically portrayed. Superfluous information is avoided and the examples are both numerous and enjoyable to develop. To consistently develop using both Access and SQL is very beneficial.
