Great! Improvement over the CRUX SOOGM-15
I installed this in my '03 Tahoe with the Bose system, on-star, and rear audio controls (no rear overhead DVD).First off let me clarify. My Tahoe has On-Star, but I don't use it. This device will not retain On-Star functionality. I knew that going in.I had initially installed my Pioneer AVH-3400BH with the CRUX SOOGM-15 wiring interface that I bought from Crutchfield. It got the job done and did retain On-Star functionality, but the chimes were waaaaay too quiet. I could only hear them with the music off. That meant I couldn't hear the low fuel chimes, the check engine chimes, etc while driving. I finally decided it was a bit risky continuing to use this interface with the chimes being so quiet. After hunting around, I finally decided to give the PAC RP4-GM11 a go. Good move! The chimes are much louder, and I even gained some (SOME) Rear Seat Controls back. More on that in a moment.First, one major difference between the RP4-GM11 and the SOOGM-15 is the difference in wiring. The SOOGM-15 had a set of wires to connect for each speaker (2x4=8) from the stereo hiring harness. However, the RP4-GM11 utilizes the stereo's built-in RCA outputs to funnel sound to your speakers, which resulted in 8 less wires to connect, and much cleaner sound. With the SOOGM-15 connected, the sound level from speakers increased dramatically with each volume uptick. A "3" was nearing a level that was too loud to carry on a normal conversation, while an "8" was pretty much maxing out my factory speakers (which was quite loud), and introduced distortion. With the RP4-GM11 connected, the levels are gradually increased at more satisfactory increment. A conversation can carry on at an "8 - 10" range, while a "15-20" provides a "plenty loud" level. I also have yet to detect any distortion It's just overall a cleaner sounding solution. One thing that I find annoying about both units, is they do not route the chimes through to your speakers, like the factory setup does. Instead, they rely on internal speaker on the box to produce the chimes. I wish they would figure out a way to tap into the speakers. It seems to me that it shouldn't be that hard, but maybe it's more complicated than it seems. So, this unit does NOT maintain On-Star functionality, as I mentioned before. My Tahoe has a dedicated On-Star button on the steering wheel, which up until now was never used. One thing that drove me nuts about my steering wheel controls with both the factory setup and the SOOGM-15 setup, was that there was no mute button on the steering wheel. What I discovered after installing the RP4-GM11, is that my On-Star button now mutes my stereo. Woohoo! So, you lose On-Star, but gain a mute button. A great trade-off for me.The other thing worth mentioning, is the Rear Seat Controls. This unit is supposed to maintain "Rear Seat Entertainment" (RES) controls. The SOOGM-15 does not. After installing my RP4-GM11, I tested this out. My Tahoe has control panel on the back of the front center console for the rear passengers to use to for adjusting AC and audio controls, with independent headphone jacks and volume knobs. What I found is that the headphone jacks do not work, (and therefore no volume control), but the rear occupants are now able to change the source and FM stations - for everyone, with no way to lock them out. Soooo... almost a step backwards, unless you're one who insists on relinquishing all radio control to your rear passengers. I'm dreading the day my daughter (currently 3) makes this discovery. This made me rate the unit 4 stars, instead of 5.Overall, however, I'm very satisfied with this unit, and it was a definite improvement over the SOOGM-15.

Ok.
+ Work as a charm with the steering wheel controls on my 05 tahoe, and easy wiring to the ISO plugs for the aftermarked stereo.- After two days use i got a problem with ACC power outlet from this giving constant power, and therefore not switching off the stereo when i remove my key.So now i get to test amazon's customer care ability too..

Fantastic, brings back stock fonctionnality
2003 Tahoe, after replacing stock HU, the RP4-GM11 brings back the chimes, the steering wheel controls (user programmable if needed), retaines the bose premium amp, so all works as best as possible. So happy.

worked perfect as advertised
Installed this unit in an 2003 Silverado with a new pioneer head unit, worked perfectly with the factory bose speakers and amp. The chimes don't sound like the original but plenty good enough.

Not worth the savings!
Yuck, boy do I regret buying this interface... My other truck has a metra axxess interface and I thought I could save $30 by going with this one... What a mistake - the chimes sound like a cheap import car! My metra interface plays chimes through the truck speakers, like it should be! Also - the illumination output brightens the screen at night, instead if dimming it.. Total bummerSupposedly some of these issues can be fixed by updating this device, which requires an expensive cable. My metra interface is updatable via USB. I'm debating whether it is worth the labor to remove this, return it and buy metra - I'm thinking so, because the chimes are terrible!
