It consists of bentonite (negatively charged), which shows strong adsorption properties when swollen in water. It binds in its structure various types of charged substances, adding mainly proteins, metal ions, causing their deposition at the bottom of the vessel. It gently increases the alkalinity of the wine. The precipitate formed is not dense and delicate, easy to filter. Mainly used for white and rosé wines.
