Great 4K panel
Just to clear up the confusion i had with Philips bizarre model number system. This is a 8505 if you want to find other reviews elsewhere. The 4 instead of the 0 indicates this version has a chrome base and not the remote with the keyboard on it.Now thats cleared up... Panel on this thing looks great. I believe it is a VA panel not IPS (apparently 43 and 65 inch are IPS) but it looks great. As with any monitor or tv though you should probably mess around with the settings to suit you but out the box looks great, judging by some other reviews some might turn up with vivid picture mode on which is great for a showroom but not good for your eyes or british TV with its love of grey and dark brown, switch it to natural.Really easy to assemble on your own but need to be careful as you have to rest the tv face down on a raised surface (i used the sofa) to attach the base, it does recommend two people though. The base itself is sturdy and allows you to turn the screen horizontally but not tilt it up and down. Ambilight is great for any Attenborough program but most of the time i have had it on lounge light (orange). Id recommend turning the brightness all the way down to save your eyes at night.Android tv software is pretty good and the chipset in the TV is good enough for it to feel snappy and responsive, as mentioned before there is no keyboard on the controller but you can download android remote on your phone and control the tv that way if you want.So far, I'd recommend it. I can't compare it to many other tvs in this price range but in comparison to tvs that are about £100-150 cheaper its worth the extra money.

If you have the space, just buy it.
I love this tv. Some background before I write about this tv. I purchased a top of the range 65" LG OLED about a year ago and was very impressed with the true blacks a picture until a vertical line appeared from top to bottom of the screen near the left hand side and once you notice something like that you can't unsee it. It was so annoying and knowing the drawbacks lile burn in with oled, I returned the tv. I wanted to take some time to wait for manufacturers to release new 2020 tvs before making a new purchase, so as a stop gap I purchased a 55" Philips ambilight for £400, which I thought was a great deal. I was so impressed with the tv for price and loved the ambilight. The pictures quality was great and the only difference from oled was the blacks are more grey because of the backlight behind the screen, although with some settings adjustment it's barely noticed. I liked the tv so much and wanted a larger screen I purchased this one as it was on a deal for £850 and I absolutely love it. The P5 picture processor works great when watching sports or fast motion. The android operating system is much better than Philips saphi OS. Just a lot easier to use and the ability to side load apks from the usb using your own hard drive. The in build apps are great and the dolby vision on Netflix is just amazing. The remote is nicely weighted and has a mic in built for Google assistant or alexa, which I haven't tried yet. The stand also comes with extendeders, so instead of the tv sitting right on the feet, you can swap this out with slightly larger ones which raise the tv up from the feet by a few inches and it looks great on the tv stand. I cannot recommend this tv enough. So many features, android is simple and easy to use the picture quality is great and I can't do without ambilight anymore. My final point is this tv is hundreds of pounds cheaper than most of the top of the range competitors but in my opinion, it's just as good.

Best TV Ive Ever Had
Honestly, I only got this at the time because it was the best price for its size. I thought the ambilight was just a gimmick that I'd never use.Wrong. The colours coming out the back of the TV and then reflecting off the wall and room, are amazing and truly immersive. One time a police car was crossing the screen, with its siren blaring Woo Woo and rotating from blue to white, for that brief moment my room also then lit up Blue White Blue White Blue White. It was great.Or another example while watching the World Cup, the bottom of my livingroom is lit green, whilst the top is lit the colours of the fans in the stadium. The backlight on this TV matches the colours on screen great and really does add effect to whatever your watching at the time. Didnt know Id love it when I got it, but now I know I cant do without it.

Great for the price
I’m normally a Sony Bravia Junkie so took a lot of convincing to break the habit but to be honest I’m impressed. The obvious game changer is the ambilight feature which does look great be it a little gimmicky but I like it for now. Build quality is ok, TV is very light and this concerned me a little but once it was on the wall that thought hasn’t crossed my mind again. Setup is easy, picture quality is good upscaling to 4K , needed a little tweaking on the picture quality setup but not much. Sound is fine, originally I was lining up a Sonos sound bar but I’ve decided it wasn’t needed... not as good as a sound bar obviously but feel it isn’t required. All in all build quality isn’t a patch on a Sony but for this price and size it’s a great television.
