SPLINTERS
First, the complete set was shipped in three different boxes that arrived across a week. Evidently shipping separately. That made little sense to us. AND.. it's not like you could start the build once you got that first box, as some parts when mixed across at least two of the three. These giant boxes sat in our apartment for days as we waited to complete the set. This would set the tone for the build ahead. The instructions were unnecessarily convoluted. Screws/pegs were in various small ziplock bags with tiny (under 1cm) letters cut out of paper mixed in. Those letters were for indicating the corresponding screw/peg needed in the instructions step. I mean, simply, labeling the ziplock bags with a sticker or even a sharpie would've made more sense. And speaking of sharpie(!), the structural building materials themselves were labeled inconsistently. Some had small stickers. Fine, standard. But some had letters that were barely legible hand written on the end grain(cut section of the wood). Some didn't have any labels at all. It was frustrating guesswork most of the time. Asinine. The wood, overall, was in rough shape. Nothing cracked or broken from shipping but a lot of small scuff marks and LOT of imperfections in the wood. Not sure what kind of lumber was used but it sure as heck wasn't oak.The most annoying thing, by far, is the raw wood slats that support the twin bed. The twin sits atop the full and the unfinished, exposed wood is a danger(SPLINTERS) to anyone that uses the bottom bunk. Let's face it, bunk bed are for kids. Why wasn't that part at the very least sanded? I'll never know. Now, I have to find a solution to that particular problem. Whether I cover or sand down those parts, it's an additional cost of time and money me, the consumer. The sturdiness is the only thing keeping this from being a one star. I'm not a fan of leaving negative reviews, but I'm even less of a fan of this item from CJLMN(or Allewie?) sold by "Goodman Jacklong" (most made up name ever).
