Atwood 38453 Thermostat

Easy to install. Works as advertised. Be sure to read the instructions and calibrate the anticipator properly. Manufacturer manual says: Do not put below .48 because it will burn out the anticipator. It appears to be already preset at1.0 which is good.With safety a priority, I called the very helpful customer service at Atwood in Indiana to verify the exact thermostat model needed for the existing Atwood Hydroflame heater in my RV. For safety sake, I recommend doing this instead of guesswork.The only negative comment is to echo others about the on/off switch which is way too tight to move. That is a manufacturing issue with Atwood that they need to address. I solved the problem by very carefully shaving the plastic bump under it. That is why I gave this 4 stars. Amazon and the seller had the best price, $5 cheaper than Walmart.

It appears that the Atwood 38453 Thermostat ’sticks,’ and can be restarted by cycling the thermostat temperature setting.The furnace ran from Dec 24 to Jan 3, from Jan 3 to Jan 7, from Jan 7 to Jan 9, from Jan 9 to Jan 10, from Jan 10 to Jan 20 PM to Jan 21 2 AM, Jan 21 to 23, Jan 23 to Jan 25, Jan 25 to Jan 29 cycling from the thermostat.Each time the furnace then had to be cycled manually from the thermostat or reset from the button on the furnace. I now (Jan 25) believe that rigorously moving the temperature setting back in forth before setting the thermostat may ‘free’ the thermostat to cycle the furnace, at least for a while.

Installed this in our camper, on/off switch works slightly better than the old version, but you can't tell what the temperature is or what temperature you are setting this at. I would not buy it again.

This is an RV thermostat for Atwood model furnaces. Took 10 minutes or less to install. Remove old thermostat, writing down which color wires go to which connections, then connect those colors to the corresponding connections on the new thermostat. If your old thermostat has extra colors that are without connections on the new thermostat, just wrap each end with electric tape and tuck away into wall. Also, if the 2 screw holes securing the old thermostat to wall do not match the holes of the new thermostat, just drill 2 new screw holes. Easy! Works great. Just make sure and set the anticipator to 1.0 since by default it was set at 0.1

Thermostat is easy to mount and wire. Appears to be quality for the price. I have to wonder though why they even bothered to put a thermometer on the unit. No way has anyone been able to read it. It is so small and fluid is so light in color you just can’t read it. Other than that great deal for low cash

The on / off lever on the one that came in our Jayco trailer was very difficult to operate. Eventually, the plastic lever broke off. This is the exact replacement and the on /off lever seems to work much better. Hopefully it was just a quality issue with the original one and this one will last.

I have a 2005 Jaco Jayflight 31BHDS. This item is exact to the original one in my camper. Easy to install. Just make sure u remember which of the two wire go where. It marks the white wire location so u would have to be very challenged to mess this up. Also makes sure when u remove the old unit to tape wire to wall making sure they they don't go back into the wall. U will have a big problem retrieving them . overall it's very easy to install and is a good replacement part.

The plastic toggle for on/off broke off my original which was black, but this fit exactly as needed to replace. Used on Coachman Freedom Express Blast.
