This is a wonderful product due to its large capacity (4 cups) and substantial weight (both the mortar and the pestle). Crushing, grinding, and pulverizing whatever herbs, spices or vegetables you're working with makes a very material difference from chopping or mincing by hand or in a food processor (all of the juices are retained). I've had a mortar and pestle for years but never used it much because it was of small capacity and rather light weight and didn't really do much other than crush very small quantities of seeds. This one is a whole different experience entirely. I broke it in making a batch of guacamole. The garlic and cilantro simply disappeared into a lovely paste. No need to chop beforehand at all. It didn't do as well with the serrano peppers so I will continue to grate those into the mortar. Finally the avocadoes were not particularly ripe but this device turned them into a lovely smooth texture with ease. I will definitely be using this quite a bit. Again, I didn't realize what I was missing since I didn't have a mortar and pestle of this weight, capacity and quality. I definitely recommend it.

It works well, I bought it mainly to smash avacado to spread it in a toast in the morning. I used to do it with fork and got tired how long it takes if avacado is not super soft. I’m short on time in the mornings, so this is a great improvement in efficiency for me. Don’t forget to prep it per instructions. I lost a piece of paper with the instructions, but found plenty of videos on YouTube.

This item has been a game changer for me in the kitchen, especially with guacamole and pico de gallo making. It was easy to prep and reliable to use for more than a year. It is heavy: I believe it will last a lifetime, but also it can be awkward if you want to tilt it with one hand to transfer contents to a bowl. To me, this is worth it because it’s large enough to hold a batch of guacamole made with three large avocados. It’s so beautiful that I leave it out on the kitchen counter.

Initial item was damaged but seller replaced immediately. I liked it so much I kept the damaged one and payed for both. I don't need 2 pestles anyway

Morter & Pistol are exceptionally functional for grinding all types of food ingredients. Just be prepared for considerable prep time to prepare the device for use properly.
