What is the purpose of the D-handle base?

I find I like the 'D' handle more than the 2 knobs, it gives me more control. Plus it allows the use of the 'trigger' to turn it off and on. I installed the standard base in my router table and use the 'D' handle and plunge bases for hand-held use. I have no been disappointed with this set.

Does anyone have a router table recommendation to couple with the Dewalt kit? I am going to be trimming out a porch and making alot of storm windows.

I made an insert to fit into the side of my Ridgid 4510 table saw out of phenolic plywood and a Kreg Router Insert. While I wouldn't use it for making heirloom furniture, it sets up and breaks down fast and works great on the job site.

What do the letters/numberrs after the dw618 stand for? i have looked at the k, pk, pkb & b3.... help

B3 means 3 bases. K is the the single base, pk is the plung base, pkb is the base with the handle.
