Works great
Works great, but it’s worth getting the plastic protector for it. And don’t put the screws in too tight. It breaks the cover plate super easy.

Says it’s waterproof, but it’s not
My golden retriever had her Collar on and splashed in the river. It was not submerged and it stopped working. Had it only for 25 days and the company replaced it. My other dog has had hers for three months and no issues. It works great with their electronic dog door and the dogs love it as they could go in and out to the backyard as they please

BEST customer Service! Shout out to Layla!
This company is FANTASTIC! I have purchased several of these collars. Unfortunately, I did have some issues. I tried to go through Amazon to fix the situation. Dealing with Amazon was a joke! I went directly to the company after months of dealing with Amazon. Wish I had gone straight to the company. The customer service was top notch! In fact, you just don’t ever deal with customer service this good anymore. Not only did they fix the situation, they made it more than right! A month ago I was about to pay a contractor to take the automatic door out of my brand new house. Now, I am back to being very happy I love the automatic door. A huge shout out to Layla from High Tech! Thank you Layla for being so kind! The collars are somewhat fragile. If you have a dog who gets in water, or dogs that chew on each other’s collars then know that you will have issues. With that said, they have engineers trying to come up with a way to protect the device. My dogs used the door within 1 minute of me putting the collars on them. The door is amazing! The collars are not too bulky or heavy. I have a 4lb Yorkie that wears one just fine. The straps are adjustable and seem comfortable. They stay on the neck very well. I keep extra batteries on hand for when the collar dies. The batteries last a long time. All in all I would say it’s a good buy. I gave four stars because of the protection. Once they figure the protection cover out, it will be 5 stars! These are worth the money! The door keeps bugs, flys, gnats, spiders, and other 4 legged creatures from coming inside. It’s a must when you live in the country!!

Much better than MS-4 - and is easy to make work with generic batteries!
I was using the MS-4 collars for our Power Pet Medium Electronic Pet Door PX-1. We had issues with dirt, hair, and water getting inside the collar causing it to stop transmitting. When one of the MS-4 collars broke, I decided to try the MS-5. Here are my thoughts: 1- this is the type of collar all units should come with by default. 2- the enclosure is secured by a small screw which is much more secure than the MS-4 plastic clamshell. 3 - this type of collar is more expensive up front, but it makes it easier to use generic batteries instead of the High Tech Pet batteries which are severely overpriced. See details below on how to do this. To save a lot of money on batteries, follow these steps to use generic batteries instead. This will take <5 mins once you've done it once, so don't be scared of the steps: Step 1: Buy CR2430 batteries (any brand will be fine) Step 2: On a dead High Tech Pet battery, take note of the two sides - One side has a donut shaped white sticker under some foil, and the other side has a circular white sticker. You will need to be careful in the following steps but it is easy. Make sure you keep track of which way the battery is oriented so you can replace your generic battery properly. Step 3: Peel the circular sticker off without ripping it. Under the sticker you can see two foil tabs welded to the battery. Using an exacto-knife (or something similar) carefully pop the tabs off of the battery without ripping or cutting them. They should come off as one dented looking tab. Step 4: Now that the tabs are popped off, remove the foil donut and underlying sticker as one piece (again without ripping it). You should now have three separate parts: the foil donut with foil ring combined, the battery, and the top circle sticker. Step 5: Replace the battery with a new one: Make sure you place the foil donut on the battery in the right orientation. Now that the battery is loosely placed inside of the donut, fold the tabs back down onto the back of the battery. These seem very loose, but you will fix that later. Step 6: Place the circular sticker over the tabs. Step 7: In order to make sure the tabs stay "squished" down to the battery, I used a thin piece of cardboard. Cut a circle the same size as the circular sticker out of a piece of cardboard. You will sandwich this cardboard on top of the battery when you do the final install in the collar. Step 8: Place the battery back into the collar, with the donut facing down onto the springs. Step 9: Place your cardboard circle on top of the battery's solid circle sticker. Step 10: Close the back of the case. If your cardboard is too thick you wont be able to close it properly. I like the MS-5 collars because they use a screw instead of a clip to stay closed, but this works with both MS-4 and MS-5 collars. Congratulations - you just saved tons of money of the lifetime of your door. Especially with 3+ animals...

The door that keeps on spending.
Details: Purchased - 2013 Model: PX2- Large Dogs: Doberman (dog breed should definitely be taken into consideration for wear and tear potential) Story: I dont write many reviews, but I have come to a boiling point with High Tech. Reader be warned. I will try to be as neutral as I can. Door has an over all good construction and works for its purpose. Up, down, locks. Easy enough? Over my now four year span with this door i have done the following: Replaced the bolts that hold in the door with larder more heavy duty to have a better seal and strengthened the door significantly. I had to do this after a power outage and the battery backup i had purchased failed (bad battery from high tech) My 80 pound lean dobby decided he didnt want to stay outside in the rain to he kept jumping on the door till the dog door backing busted off. He then dried himself off on the couch after coming in. Door bolts replaced and that issue is no more. Kicking the door in would be a challenge after that. Bad /Mixed parts: Iv had to replace several parts on this door. Motor 2x, sensors 3x, and main board 2x (once due to new motor not being compatible with the old one, via high tech diagnosed that) This is war and tear damage from having dogs CONSTANTLY in and out. I can let that slide on the review rating. "is what it is" cost Sensors: Sensors are horrid. Iv since day one had to keep the sensors on MAX for the door to open 12 inches from the opening. Same from outside. Otherwise the door when they are smack dab in front of it would not open. So after a few years of doing this and some extra parts I added in a second sensor and mounted it on the side. Totally fixed the range issue by adding a new LOS (line of sight) Collars: Ok so now comes the hate speech. Im NINE collars deep at this point. Yep, NINE. 9. 09. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9. I have doberman. They run, jump, rough play with each other, and so on. These collars break like the cheap plastic they are. Now due to my own collar modifications the last 3 have lasted 4 times longer then the rest. Modification: I take the collars and wrap them in Silicone Rubber Self Fusing Tape around all the edges and the middle. I then I take an exacto knife and cut out the silver sensor, test button, and led light. This then gets attached with zip ties to their collars. As you can see this becomes a PAIN in the ass when you need to change the battery. Inevitably the collar breaks or stops working over time. High Tech PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF DOG GET YOUR COLLAR FIXED. You say on your website: "Plexidor's biggest drawback is its price, a whopping $1200.00! We have no idea why it costs so much or why anyone would spend this kind of money when the Power Pet door, at 1/3 the price, performs so much better, looks so much better and gives you so many more features." Iv seen the reviews for that door and they dont seem to have near as much replacement cost issues as this product. I have my parents and two friends that have purchased this products and we all have the same issue. The collars are total crap in the current configuration. Had i known my "1/3ed price door" was going to cost me over 1000 in maintenance costs to keep the system going I would have never bought this system that now my dogs depend on. It would be awesome to talk to some "engineers" and get this product where it should be. Again now i have to order another collar so 50 down the drain.

Frustrated
We’ve had this door for about 10 years. The collars go out at least every 8 months. They are $55 collars times 3 pets it’s SO EXPENSIVE not to mention the batteries are expensive and have to be replaced monthly it seems. Also no warning to let you know they are dying, so then the dog is stuck inside and we don’t know it and then deal with accidents. I’m so frustrated. I don’t want to rip this door out of the wall and get a new one because it’s HUGE so it wouldn’t even cover the damage with a new one. Just overly frustrated

Very small and compact
I was surprised at its size. Our lil guy doesn't seem to even notice it. The ONLY thing I do not like, is that the manufacturer, chose to create a "casing" for the battery, thereby highly increasing the price of the battery. Fortunately, I was able to find others on the internet who also hated this and were able to use a standard battery (I can't remember the number now) and they used an Exacto knife to remove the special "casing" that the factory uses. Being careful not to destroy it. They, they found another battery that is the same size and specs. They put the casing back on, and while no one seems to be able to spot weld it again, taping it seems to work just fine. I was able to order some extra batteries from E-bay that were at a more resonable price. But when it comes time to replace, I'll try to removing the case thing. ;)

a big improvement on the older version. if you ...
a big improvement on the older version. if you have snow, and a dog that loves to play in it, spend a few extra dollars for this unit, it will last longer and wont get broken apart for doggy snow bank or back yard grass neck rubs, The biggest issue with all there collars is that metal disk sitting out front. Static from dog rubbing self on rugs has burned 2 units out, so I need to keep a spare on hand.

Demon Cat loves!
Pleased to see that the company is now making the actual collar with a "breakaway snap instead of the ring end that they did before. It is still not truly "breakaway though, and a cat could still possibly be hung if they got caught in branches. Over all this is a really good product thoug, and customer support is awesome. will order again when the Demon cat loses her house key!
