Will this wear down the Apple Pencil nib?

Yeh it’s very rough feeling so it will certainly wear down the nib faster. (And it really doesn’t feel like paper!)

how do you remove it?

It is advisable that you check for weak spots on your screen protector. These might most likely be around the edges of the screen, or uncovered areas like the microphone receiver and the front camera lens. Please use your fingernail to gently peel the protector off. If this does not work, try using the tooth pick to create a gap, and be gentle, so you won’t damage the screen.
