Couldn't have been easier!
Our office was looking for a message on hold system that we could run ourselves. We have a ShoreTel phone system, so we knew any "plug-and-play" device would work. After some careful research, we purchased this product. We were very pleased with the software that came with it. Within an hour of receiving it, we had recorded our messages and loaded our music. The resulting "project" was very pleasing. We loved that it had the option to play the music in the background while our voice messages played over top.All-in-all, we would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a simple DIY MOH system.***UPDATE***Nearly a year later and it's still going strong. We change our messages about once a month with no problems at all. When we first installed the software, I had an older XP computer that I ran it on and we had some issue with previewing the playback for the projects. It would stop and sputter when playing on the computer, but had no issues once plugged into the machine. Once I upgraded my computer, the problem went away. So it was the computer, not the software, that was causing the playback issues. We are constantly getting compliments about our MOH system from other agencies and our outside vendors. Several have asked what we used and I haven't hesitated to tell them about this great product! It really is an all-in-one MOH system. I would buy it again in a heartbeat. Definitely worth the full price, but a STEAL at the price being offered on Amazon.

Affordable, Easy, Effective
We have a pretty elaborate phone system at the office and when it was installed, we were told we had many options for the on-hold messages and music. After doing some research on our options, I decided a device like this would be the quickest, easiest, and most effective way to roll-out hold music without violating any copyright laws. It came with some software and a credit for customizations but I have not looked into those options yet. This device worked right out of the box, the messages are professional and the music is good quality and perfect for our environment.

Needs a MAC version of the software
We've been using the same MOH device with a custom recording for about 20 years. Since then, some of the information has become outdated. Companies want an arm and a leg for a new custom recording and a new MOH device (the one we have uses an obsolete chip). I found this one on Amazon and decided to give it a try. Turns out, it does exactly what we need it to do and it works exactly as expected. I used Garage Band on my Mac to make a custom MP3 recording using my voice and some royalty-free music I downloaded online (I didn't like any of the music that came with the device). So, why did I not give it 5 stars if it works perfectly? Build quality. You can tell this is a cheap, Chinese-made device. If it lasts 20 years like our old, one, then I'll update my review to 5 stars. :)The Windows-only software that comes with the device includes additional, royalty-free, voice-free music and some generic on-hold messages in male and female versions. The software is simple to use and works surprisingly well, but is very basic. It basically allows you to combine music and messages and create an MP3 file. You can record your own message, but there is no audio editing capability. This is fine if you have a natural "radio" voice and a good microphone - at least for the limited quality of a telephone call. Another nice thing about the software is it does automatic "ducking" (lowing the music volume while messages are playing).

Worked ok till it didn't
I purchased this in 2020 because I wanted a more professional MP3 player for an in office ambient music setup. Worked OK, but had occasional issues with it stopping play for no apparent reason (once every 2-3 months). Eventually this became a frequent stopping issue, which I suspect may have something to do with the original power supply. I replaced the unit in mid 2023 with a different brand, and that unit has not stopped working yet. I kept this unit to see if it can be fixed as it has some features I really like (built in speaker, volume knob, power+speaker buttons), but the random stops were a major problem.Suspecting the issue was power related, I purchased a USB-A to DC Connector cable (5.5mm x 2.1mm) and used a 2A USB phone charger as a replacement 5V supply. This worked but still stopped playing after about 30 hours. I decided to tear the unit apart and see what it looked like inside. Very simple design, but the thing that stood out to me was the lack of any input power filtering or voltage regulation. Whatever you do don't use anything over 5V with this device. Guess this saved them 30 cents in parts, so they relied on the power supply instead (accountants shouldn't be allowed to talk to engineers). I decided I could add a 1000mfd filter capacitor to the DC input jack with some creative soldering to at least filter the power a bit. Bent the capacitor legs so it lays on its side to the right of the DC jack (looking from the back) with the + lead bent 90deg about 1/4" from the capacitor to go into the solder hole at the back of the DC connector and the other leg makes (2) 90 turns to solder into the hole on the left side of the jack for a solid ground. The first thing I noticed when I powered the unit on again is how much clearer the internal speaker sounded. The unit always sounded slightly over-driven, but I though it was just a cheap amplifier/speaker. I am very hopeful this will resolve the stopping problem as there was clearly a power quality problem that existed with both the original and the replacement power supplies. I will update this review if it does not. The original power supply was very low current (less than 1A), and I expect any AC power glitches would have caused significant dips in the already unclean 5V power which is what I believe to be the cause of the player crashes. The USB charger has significantly more current capacity than the original power supply, and the added capacitor should level out any small glitches/line noise. Larger glitches will still cause the unit to restart as designed, which is acceptable.

Solved our royalty-free hold music problem
It works perfectly as advertised and solved our royalty-free hold music problem. When it arrived, we installed it with our office telephone system and have never needed to worry about it again. It has such a wide selection that callers get different music every time they call - it does not noticeably repeat. We even got a few compliments from clients in the first month (who had apparently got tired of our old 45-second repeating loop).

USB didn't work
The device itself works great. The USB that's given to put the media on didn't work at all. Wouldn't read in this or any other computer in our dealership.
