Loss, Trauma, and Resilience: Therapeutic Work With Ambiguous Loss

Boss has done the fractured world immense good with this book about resiliency in the face of ambiguous loss, a most devastating situtation. Highly applicable to many types of amiguous loss: abandonment, estrangement, dementia, MIA, incarceration, so many jolts on our way through life she has an effective prescription for the aching, longing heart. This one of her two books is more technical for the clinician but also good for thoughtful clients.

I have known Pauline Boss for several years now. As a matter of fact, she is one of the reasons I chose to pursue a doctorate at the University of Minnesota. This book will give you not only insight into ambiguous loss theory - which is gaining prominence given the current refugee situation worldwide - but also a glimpse into Pauline's mind. Overall, a wonderful book that is easy to read. I recommend it to professionals who are interested in learning more about ambiguous loss and to lay persons who may struggle with loved ones who are absent from their lives (psychologically or physically).

This is a great companion to the Ambiguous Loss book. I have used this book for my own benefit and have recommended it to those who have experienced similar losses and trauma. The reason I have it four stars (instead of five) is because this book has been written more for the professionals and not the lay individuals (self-help). This book could work well along side with an assisting professional.

grieving described to it's fullest.....helpful for those who feel a loss without a name.

With the recent MH370 situation, this is a good guidance for me and the Crisis Intervention Team members.

This book was required for one of my classes at school. This book was more interesting than some of the others I was required to read.
