Written for soprano, alto, choir and orchestra, it shows the extraordinary It shows the extraordinary (and up to now largely unrecognized) contrapuntal mastery of Galuppi, who in his sacred works, perhaps even more than in his theatrical ones, reveals all of his talent as a composer.Mozart composed his Mass in C Major K 317 in 1779, and it is such a famous masterpiece that it needs no introduction. Here it is in the fine, intimist interpretation of the Solisti Veneti conducted by Claudio Scimone. Galuppi's Mass is a world première recording.
