Califone CD-102 Personal CD Player with 8200-HP Headphones

I listen to music on this every day and it has wonderful sound quality for a unit not too expensive. It is nice because it can run on batteries or electricity. Since I listen on it so often, I was going through batteries quite often; so, manage to listen mostly when using the computer and can plug it into an electrical outlet. It was a good buy and I'm enjoying it tremendously.

I bought the players for two students to listen to stories independently. The players work well. They are easy to operate.I'm very happy with this purchase and would recommend this product.

We ordered these for a reading support program at our school. They hold up well to the abuse children can dish out and have all the functions we need.

Friends have teased me about taking a step back in time by buying a personal CD player, but I have motivational CDs, books on CD, etc., and I do not really want to have to record everything so I can listen to it on my iPod, so this is a great, affordable alternative. The sound quality is good, and I have not experienced any skips. I'm totally happy.

Good price, works well, excellent sound, doesn't skip, simple to operate, no complaints, suits my CD book-listening needs completely.

Bought this to listen to books on CD while gardening. When stopping the book, I want the book to re-start where I stopped, not at the beginning of the CD. My old Sony Walkman always resumed where I left off. I called Califone technical support. Their staff confirmed the unit does not resume when you stop playing. The unit does have a pause function which will resume, but when in pause, the unit shuts off after 30 seconds and re-starts at the beginning.

I give this particular unit, which I received, only 1 star, because it is defective. When playing a disc, while sitting on a table,it occasionally stops, without any jarring or table movement, for no detectable reason. After stopping, it might or might not,restart playing. The time lapse between the stop and restart--if it restarts--varies. On occasion, I unsuccessfully attempteda restart by pushing the "skip" button or "pause" button 2x. Amazon has readily agreed to refund the purchase price upon return of the unit. In addition, the manufacturer had agreed to replace the unit under warranty. I declined that, because of certain "hoops" that i had to jump through. I felt that I did not need that hassle. Aside from the defect issue, I liked the unit. Sound is good, and 7 of the function controls, located on the top of the unit,make operation easy. Aside from the defect, I would give it 5 stars.

The Califone CD player is even better than the better known Sony Walkman . The sound is crystal clear .There is a volume dial at the bottom of the player that is preferable to the push button volume on the Sony Walkman. It allows you to make it exactly as loud or soft as you want it to be. On my Sony Walkman the push button eventually stopped working. The volume dial is more durable and easier to use.The time indicator that tells you how many minutes each song is as you listen to it, have much bigger numbers and is easier to read than the time indicator numbers on the Sony Walkman. There is also a backwards and forward skip button if you don't like a song and want to skip it or if you want to hear a song again. It is also an attractive looking player with a colorful blue border that is more attractive then the dull gray color of the Sony Walkman. It also comes with headphones. The cd player plays a song smoothly without skipping even in a moving vehicle. iI wholeheartedly recommend the Califone Cd player. It's worth the money. Larry Miller
