I’ve spent a long time trying to find appropriate test for my dogs as they are rescues from Eastern Europe and I was super curious to know what breed they are. I decided to get a wisdom panel and do a little trial on one of my dogs before I invest in getting another 2 tests. The test came super fast and the process of collecting DNA was quick and easy, I received the results in less than 2 weeks since posting it back which I think is very impressive. The results were amazing. Firstly he is 1/4 an central Asian Shepard dog which was our guess, but there is no retriever in him, which was our second guess. Instead he’s a combination of fascinating breeds I would have never guessed. My favourite part was to see how strong his DNA is with no genetic diseases markers and the part about the looks. It not only helps in having no doubts that this is a genuine test (I was still worrying about it as the price is so low!) but also really made a difference for me as my dog was mistreated and has no ears and no tail. I cried when I found out he would have had floppy ears and long bushy tail. How lovely is to have that answer. I immediately ordered further 2 tests for my other dogs. I’m very happy with this purchase.

My dog was abandoned as a young pup years ago, and I took him on. Our personalities clicked immediately, and we instantly became inseparable. I've never had such a proud and handsome looking dog, with people regularly stopping me to ask about his breeding. It's always been a mystery; much speculation was definitely on border collie, and then possibly doberman, rottweiler or Labrador mix.. maybe a little bit of hound in there. Results show a 44% border collie with 29% Labrador retriever, 11% Siberian husky, and 6% rottweiler.. lower % on a couple of other breeds. Knowing my dog, his drive to work, intelligence, trainability, loyalty, fun-boy personality and his tendency to vocalise when he interacts, everything in this test makes perfect sense. I would recommend it if you don't know your dogs lineage, as a great bit of fun and insight.. the health screening is a big bonus, with my boy thankfully clear of any notable genetic issues. Turnaround time for test was very quick.. less than 2 weeks, with a bank holiday in the middle of it.

Done 3 of these now for my rescue dogs and they're great, it's fun to find out their DNA and breeds but also can help with identifying why they behave the way they do, the best ways to train them, offer breed-specific outlets for them as well as the genetic health analysis bringing some peace of mind to this stressy dog guardian! If your dog is a bit shy or nervous, it can be harder to do get the swab in the right place to take the sample but I do a couple pretend tries and offer treats before doing it for real, so far haven't had to retake a test or had any issues with this. Just bear in mind they shouldn't have eaten for a couple hours before taking the test so do your practice runs earlier with something that resembles the swab, give them their treats and take a break before doing the actual test. Two of the dogs I've tested were Romanian street dogs so I can't really comment on the accuracy for them as honestly who knows but one had 18 different breeds, the other had 23, and the vast majority of the breeds identified definitely made sense. My UK rescue I tested as we'd been told he was a GSD but he just didn't look fully GSD, well I was right and it came back half GSD and the other half a mix of mostly saluki and greyhound and tiny amounts whippet and bedlington terrier. Honestly spot on. I'd said from day one he looks like a GSD x lurcher and well, Wisdom Panel proved it! One dog I upgraded to premium and when the behaviour traits came out later on for him, they were spot on! It made all the behaviour modification we'd done to overcome his generalized anxiety, separation anxiety and fear of people that much sweeter knowing he had genetic factors playing a part in his earlier struggles. I'm happy with what I paid for the essential tests while on sale and if I still had just one doggo, I'd do premium again but it can get expensive doing it for more than one pooch. Happy to say, so far all my dogs genetic health tests have come back clear and working in a vet clinic, the main ones I wanted to know about was the MDR1 gene and blood clotting disorders, which thankfully Wisdom Panel checks for and my big floofs are all clear.

George is a Romanian rescue so we had him tested for a bit of fun. 22 dog breeds were identified with the top ones being chihuahua and german shepherd, but where 22 breeds are involved and the main ones only 10-12% I am not sure that it tells us anything useful. All a bit of fun though and an easy process. Not sure it’s worth the money but quite amusing when we’ve always had spaniels and pointers and end up with a fluffy boy do who is an amazing character and loved whatever he is!

We had our rescue lurcher 3 years ago and although I suspected there is saluki and greyhound in him, I wanted to know for certain as it would account for some of his behaviour, which is different from our previous lurcher. All you send to the laboratory is 2 samples of your dog's saliva, no photos or any information whatsoever. Wisdom kept me up to date by email when they recieved and were processing the saliva. Two weeks later came the results and I was amazed! Scout is mainly saluki and greyhound with a few bits ot other ancestry thrown in. They also stated what colour he is and if he has any intolerance to any veterinary drugs, and the number of toes he has!! All of the breeds that are in him are illustrated and their traits explained. His results were cross-matched with other dog owners on the Wisdom database to see if there are any relatives. A photo of a dog that is probably his sister came up on my screen - it is the double of Scout!!! All in all I am so glad I chose this particular test kit, would highly recommend.

Ok bit of background. I got fed up with rude people on walks telling me my dog is not a “ real” Cavalier King Charles Spaniel because he is too big, too long, too hyper, snout too long etc etc People made me doubt it! So I looked into this and read others reviews. It definitely wasn’t easy getting his DNA sample. The first one came back that it hadn’t worked ( I wasn’t surprised) but they sent me another pack for free to try again! Once I wore him out enough to get his sample I sent it off and results came back within 2 weeks. I was really impressed because it not only gives dog breed by % it also gives information on traits like his snout, ears, coat, colouring etc Screened for health issues and gave info on other cavalier’s that are his relatives. He is 100% cavalier so now when rude people feel the need to comment on how he’s not a cavalier I can provide proof he is as well as suggesting people keep their opinions to themselves. Certainly worth the money

I bought this for my rescue dog Lottie (German Spitz). I was amazed how it captured her exactly and could even provide some distant cousins! It broke all the breeds down between both parents too. Very specific.

Der Test tut ,was er wahrscheinlich soll, allerdings war bei uns zu wenig DNA-Material vorhanden und ich sollte ein Gratis-Testkit als Ersatz erhalten. Allerdings versendet die Firma mit Sitz im UK nicht nach Deutschland! Also nichts mit Ersatz! Dafür einfach zu teuer.

So impressed with this test!! I did a lot of research before buying it to make sure it was the best in the DNA testing field and I was not disappointed. Shipped to Australia pretty quickly and customer service helped me with some questions that I had about shipping it back quicker. The test was easy to do and the results are spot on (probably). I have two mutts from different rescues and their personalities make me think I had a herding breed and a lab, which I do! Happy to have this confirmation so I can now work towards meeting the needs of the genes of those breeds.
