Good replacement 3 way socket
I have a couple of very old lamps I inherited from my grandmother that are 70+ years old and one of them was giving problems with the 3 way switch in it. So I looked at the offerings here on Amazon and they showed 2 different types, one made with a housing made of metal that kind of snaps together and this plastic one that screws together. I went with this plastic one as I think it's sturdier than the snap together metal one, which was like the one I was replacing. It installed just as easy as the metal type and it works well. I also went with a LED 50-100-150 bulb, which only draws 20 watts on the high setting, so I am not worried about temperature degradation of the plastic either. The 3 way switch has a good, crisp feel when adjusting the setting too. I am keeping the second one as a spare for when the other old 3 way switch goes out.

Great 3 way socket.
I love 3 way lamps if you waht to watch tv and relax then low if you waht to read then click to high or if you need a little bit more light then medium second click is good. These a use to replace others i bought that work dont work i would have 2 settings then one and finally the switch gave out and the lamp worked only on the highest setting. The Power Gear three was socket are easyer to hook up and the switch is prettysoild and crisp better then the others.

Easy to install
I changed a single to a three way lamp very easily. I recommend the plastic over the metal socket. Plus change the cord while you are at it.

The old, cheap, gold sockets were overdue on my nearly 30 year old Chicago Bears helmet lamp so I purchased these, some black lamp cord, black harps and black finials to give the lamp a fresh look. I wish the harps I received were actually black but the brushed stainless look great, too. I'm really happy with this socket enclosure!
