I couldn't be more pleased with this chest. Not only is it exactly as advertised, it's better. There is some assembly involved, but it goes together really easily and quickly. Everything lines up, and even without gluing, it is very sturdy. I was most impressed with the lid. The lid is made with real wood, and is fully assembled when it's shipped. You only have to assemble the four sides with the bottom, and attach the lid. The material quality is excellant, and the chest is very roomy. I fit all the bed clothes (sheets and blankets) as well as the pillows for a full size sleeper sofa, and there is room for more. I like top of the chest is completely flat, so that things on the edge don't slide off, and I can use it as a living room coffee table. Great for card games, or placing a hors d'ouvre spread for entertaining.My only complaint is the hinge mechanism. It's sturdy enough, but it doesn't allow the lid to close under it's own weight. I have to gently push it closed the whole way. That's actually great for not getting little fingers slammed on, but I was kind of expecting a slow gentle closing action once I get it halfway or so. Not a big deal though. I still give this 5 stars and would definitely recommend.

I needed a coffee table for my a little bit narrow family room and something I could put a pillow on and use as a foot stool when I sit on the sofa with a dog on my left and the other dog on my right. In NO way would I have room for a coffee table and a foot stool. I also wanted storage to put throws and pillows for when I do get to lay down on the sofa. Sometimes the dogs allow me to do that. I now have a place to set a drink, have a nice high foot stool and cleaned up the throws and pillows. ONLY, problem I did have putting it together was that for some reason the shorter right and left sides were not marked and when it came time for the hinges and top to be put on, the Predrilled holes where not on the correct side. I did have to take it apart and re-essembled it correctly. Partially My fault partially the manufacture's instructions for not showing that there were pre-drilled holes, Worth more than every penny. Just look for the pre-drilled holes for the hinges.

We ordered two matching end tables along with this coffee table and assembled the end tables first. This coffee table assembled exactly the same way as the end tables so by the time we starting putting this together we were somewhat experts and it took only about 30 minutes to assemble. All the pre-drilled holes matched perfectly and the finished table looks like a million bucks. It's a nice size for a medium living room, though not large enough to hide a body if that's what you're planning on using it for. I also wouldn't recommend using the side handles to lift it if you have anything weighty inside as the handles are more decorative than functional. We are two senior citizens and I think the table will hold up very well. Your mileage may vary, especially if you have kids who spill their Fruit Loops and like to fling their toys around the room.

I've had this trunk for almost 5 years. It's been helpful in providing extra storage and a nice accent piece in my living-room. I would recommend hammering in some furniture sliders on the feet bottoms and attaching the feet with wood glue plus the screws provided. The table is heavy and does not slide well on carpet. The trunk is made out of pressed wood with a solid wood veneer. I pushed the table along the carpet and the feet screws ripped through the pressed wood. Lots of wood glue and furniture sliders saved the day. Also, the wood veneer is chipping away at the lid corners (where you're more apt to run into it). I've been hiding the damage with wood filler and paint.Pros: Looks beautiful and unique. Great for extra storage.Cons: Not made from solid wood; made from pressed wood. Wood veneer eventually chips off.

After reading all the reviews, I was petrified that this was going to be an assembly nightmare, however, I didn't encounter any of the problems other reviewers did. It took me about an hour to assemble and it was pretty easy; there are only 6 pieces to put together. Again, this was not difficult to put together at all, and the instructions were clear pictures, no complaints there. The only thing I would recommend is to put this chest together with an impact driver or a drill, the process will go much faster than trying to use a manual screwdriver.The only thing I didn't like is that the insides of the wood panels are particle wood. The veneers are actually solid wood, but sandwiched within is particle wood; however, that is what keeps this chest so inexpensive, so it's a great value!

So...It's a beautiful piece. I may add some casters to the legs for height & ease of moving. Its HEAVY. It's got lots of room for blankets, games, etc. The hinges are iffy... I'd not suggest anything kids will use, without an adult.Now...I was sent someone else's return!!!! In itself, that would be o.k. IF they checked it AND it's marked as an open box... but it's full of little DINGS!! AND I know this because their original invoice, full of their info, was in the box!!!!! THAT freaked me out.The directions are the WORSE... no their online video directions are even worse! After a day & a half of trying & quitting in frustration, numerous times.... it's finally together. I think the hinges are still screwed up from the person who had it before me. I wanted to return it... but not enough to start over & I already gave away my old table, too. lolThose who said it was easy...I commend you because I'm naturally good at this kind of thing!!! I'd recommend the "expert install!"My lower rating was from the company sending me USED PRODUCT THAT IS DAMAGED!!!!!! And not responding to my Facebook plea since their website was a security breach. Boo hiss!
