without exaggeration, the finest tool of its kind
The KNIPEX 13 72 8 Forged Wire Stripper is, without exaggeration, the finest tool of its kind I have ever used. It perfectly blends the brute strength of a craftsman's plier with the delicate precision of a surgeon's scalpel. The forged construction provides a sense of indestructible quality, yet the compound leverage mechanism makes stripping even tough wires feel incredibly smooth and effortless. The precision-ground stripping holes are impeccably sized and cleanly cut through insulation without a single nick to the copper conductor. The integrated cutters are razor-sharp, and the ability to crimp terminals adds to its remarkable versatility. This single 8-inch tool has effectively replaced two or three others in my bag. For any electrician, technician, or serious DIYer, this is not just an expense; it's a long-term investment in flawless performance. The ergonomics, balance, and sheer quality justify its price many times over. Once you use it, every other wire stripper feels inadequate. An absolute five-star masterpiece.

Electrician recommended
KNIPEX Tools it’s a little slice of heaven for my hands. Now, full disclosure: when your grip starts losing its superhero strength, you might need to go full tag-team mode with two hands to cut some thicker wires. But for me? One hand does the trick, and it feels like cheating against stubborn wires. Yes, KNIPEX tools are on the pricier side—but hey, you’re paying for sheer joy and zero frustration. Every cut is smooth, every strip is clean, and it makes my electrician (and occasional DIY) life ridiculously easy. If you like tools that do the heavy lifting while making you look cool doing it, this one’s a winner. Just don’t be surprised if your other tools start feeling jealous. :D

Worth the price
The cutters on these cut like a dream. They are comfortable in the hand. They are super durable made with high quality material. They strip wires really well and the nose of the strippers helps take apart wire or just used as pliers. They are really lightweight and they aren't too big which is nice for measuring wire out of a box because it leaves me more than enough to work with. The design of the comfort grip is appealing compared to the standard grip or even other strippers. Cutting screws of any sort is effortless, my only issue is that they don't cut the screws short enough. Other then that I love these strippers

A+ German wire strippers for USA market
Wow. When german engineers finally understand american construction problems, a miracle tool is born. I feel like this tool is an extension of my consciousness when im on the job. We are symbiotic. This is now one of the oldest tools in my bag. Still sharp after over 4 years. Replaces linemans in some cases. Feels organic in pocket. Lock mechanism is reliable and non obtrusive. Romex grooves will still damage thhn coating if not careful. Does not strip romex faster than klein yellow. Very notchy. Bolt cutters are sharp and allow nuts to be theaded. Insulated handle is superior to the non insulated one. A+++ design after several failed attempts by "nip-exe" to understand american electrical construction.

Knipex is always a great choice
Heavy duty, super sharp, awesomely effective strippers that can also twist wire connections in a pinch. They are super heavy, which can make them a bit difficult to use one-handed in some situations, especially at awkward angles in tight spaces. However, if you want one tool that can easily take the place of 2 or 3, these are for you.

A must have
No matter what trade you're in, if you're going to be working with wire, this tool will come in handy. You'd be able to strip wire (I've stripped 10 guage down to 18 guage) without a problem. You can make joints with the same tool just as easily so you won't have to grab your linemans or whatever else.. These have a nice grip, and don't weigh much, the ergonomics fit great in my hands.. After having them for about 2 weeks, they got rained on and developed an expected amount of oxidation, but didn't negatively effect the performance. I've dropped them, cut MC (12/2), and even used the screw cutting feature and they're holding up after a few months of every day use. The only gripe I have is that sometimes the cutters need to be hyperextended to be able to fit around certain things like the MC I mentioned, but that's not typical for it's use and I'm still glad I have them. A bit pricier than others, but well worth it due to its design, speed, and wire stripping ease. Don't pass this up.. I promise you'll love them..

New overpriced, maybe too good for even the pros.
Nice tool. I am fond of the lock. the non lever type is not obtrusive. That is good. The blades are thick and the knives sharp. I don't think it fits stranded wire too well. Lots of nicks if using 12/12 Lots of tearing insulation if using 10/12 i.e., the solid hole, same gauge is too small, the next size up is too large. It would be nice if the tip was crosshatched. That way the twisted wires would not splay when twisted. I have been using an Irwin pair that works great except for the narrow tip that splayed the wires. I used the Irwin to strip then crosshatched duckbills to twist. Two tools, With this one I was trying to get down to one. Didn't work., Maybe I can get a diamond file and cut crosshatching in. We will see. Anyhow, these are built well. Maybe overbuilt since the others cost 1/4th as much so you can replace them often and not come close to the cost of this one. However, if this lasts 4x longer before going dull or opening up even more (which would make it pretty much useless for stranded, unless you want nicked and damaged wire, it might be OK. Again, We will see. I'll give them a good month of work before I decide to go back to before and carry an additional tool or not.

The best wire cutter/stripper/plier combination.
In my pursuit of excellence, I’ve recently begun the process of decluttering my toolbox, removing unused and low-quality tools, and replacing them with top-notch equipment. The KNIPEX Forged Wire Stripper is a prime example of this upgrade. Its German engineering is evident in every use, and it has quickly become an indispensable tool in my arsenal. I’ve had my fair share of experiences with various brands and models. However, the KNIPEX Forged Wire Stripper 10-20 AWG stands out as the best among them. With sharp cutting edges and comfortable handles, it performs exceptionally well as both pliers and a wire stripper. It can strip and cut both solid and stranded wire between 10 and 20 AWG, making it a versatile tool for various electrical tasks. Made in Germany, this wire stripper boasts a solid construction that exudes durability and reliability. For anyone looking to invest in a high-quality wire stripper that will last, I cannot recommend the KNIPEX Forged Wire Stripper 10-20 AWG enough.
