Device is well built but. A hand help scanner would be better than this pen.

We bought these for a bar code time keeping system we have (Novatime). The system reseller sells them for $350 each. I could not see any indication of modifications to our originals and so we gave these a try. They work fine at $67-72 each. We go through about 3 a year in our plants so these provide reasonable savings over the original pricing. The cables tend to break at the back of the wand after 8-10 months of moderate use which is why they are 4 star instead of 5.

Affordable and works well! Comes with the guide to set up beeping sounds and was the best price on the market at the time. Definitely recommend

Pros: Reads all kinds of 1D barcodes. Reads ones my Datalogic doesn't. Cheaper than the Wasp No drivers to install Generous cord length Ideal for wide barcodes Cons: Have to have finesse, it's picky. You need to start stroke 1/4" before the barcode and end 1/4" after barcode. Must have smooth, straight, moderately quick stroke in order for it to pick up the code. (not very user friendly, as such, docking 2 stars) Red light is always on

The wand came in a timely fashion and works just fine. I've used lots of bar code readers over the years and would buy another of these if I needed one. Much more cost effective that some of the other options.
