Making Tinctures: Beyond the Folk Method

This thin volume could be thinner. I read the previous reviws and the author's objectives and agreed that there was a need for a concise but practical acientific approach to tincture making; however, there was some fluff which editors could have trimmed The breakdown of the basic tincture theories was useful, as were the formulas for calculating volumes of ingredients, but the author certainly could have provided more basic recipes than she did. (My 30-yeas old Reader's Digest Herbal Guide includes three pages of basic tincture recipes that shames this book's). While I still refer to Thyme Whisper's sparse formulas, and appreciate her attempt tomake math and science seem less threatening to the soft-science sorts, I still think there is a need for the definitive tincture making bible.

I like the book because it got straight to the point. It's like a quick learner class. I've been making my tincture with EO's, mushrooms and herbs. I sell them and I know if I make an and take an I know people will love em. I love it. The meds are right here!!! There are no side effects like most meds.

This is a great book that explains the different extraction methods. The reason I only gave the book 4 stars: I don't think one book can cover all the topic. It would have been nice to go into test methods proving your formulations contain the important extracts for the different plants. For example, polyphenols, alkaloids, flavonoids, enzymes, etc.

Very informative. We've tried a couple of the recipes and they turned out great!

Love this book. Great addition to my herbs and oils library. The mathematical formulas are exceptional. HIGHLY recommended.

Helpful... have yet to try making anything (waiting for grain alcohol). Good to have in case of situation where meds aren't available.
