NO WEIGHT LOSS, PLUS 2-3 TEASPOONS WASTED IN EVERY BOTTLE
I have to laugh at all the reviews that focus on praising the great taste of not only this Yacon syrup but other brands, too. While I really like the taste of Nutramin Yacon syrup, myself, there are plenty of delicious sweeteners out there that aren't going to cost you 2-4 dollars PER OUNCE. So the real questions are: Does this Yacon syrup promote weight loss? Does it boost metabolism? Does it help to tame cravings? My answers, after consuming two bottles of Nutramin Yacon syrup according to directions, would be "No, no and yes." Your mileage may vary, of course, but let me start with my "Yes" answer first.I really did find that three teaspoons of Yacon syrup per day did a great job of taming cravings to snack. I generally don't give in to those cravings, anyway, but they're annoyingly persistent. While taking Yacon syrup, I found that they pretty much disappeared. I have no explanation for this, it was just my consistent experience, and it's this crave-taming effect of Nutramin Yacon syrup that led me to give this product three stars. As for weight loss, my scale didn't budge at all after two bottles. Ditto for a boost in metabolism--if it was happening, I had no sense of it, and it didn't show up on the scale. It is also impossible to say if the Nutramin brand of Yacon syrup is any better or worse than the many other brands out there. It is certainly sold at a more attractive price point. But the whole world of supplements is like the Wild West, with no sheriff in town, as recent extensive tests by the Canadian government proved. Most supplements tested had less than the claimed amount of active ingredient, or NONE at all. Finally, there's the waste I experienced with both bottles that I purchased--and when you're paying these kinds of prices for only 8 ounces of liquid, you want to be sure that you get all of it. About a half ounce of syrup hardened at the bottom of the bottles to the point of not pouring. I tried microwaving my first bottle a bit, to heat the syrup and get it flowing. but within seconds the bottle itself had melted. Yes, I could now pour the syrup, but I didn't want to risk ingesting some melted plastic along with it. Okay, my bad, the mfgr never said this was a microwave safe bottle. With the second bottle, I tried heating the bottle with hot water--first from my kitchen sink, but that wasn't hot enough to get the syrup flowing. Then I heated water on the stove, but nowhere near the boiling point. When I put the Yacon syrup bottle into the water, it melted again. There might be a perfect temp that gets the syrup flowing without melting the bottle, but I'm done testing. Just know that you'll have some waste in every bottle. If this were cheaper, I might continue to buy it for its crave-taming abilities alone. However, 8 ounces is only a 16 day supply when used as directed, but you'll get slightly less than that with waste, and significantly less if you don't measure your teaspoons carefully. So it's pretty pricey on a monthly basis as ONE supplement. I'm not going to continue using it, but if prices keep dropping, as they seem to be doing, I may reconsider. Thanks for taking the time to read my review and I hope you find it helpful in making a buying decision.

Two Stars
Didn't notice any difference taking it. Too much crystalization at bottom of bottle

Another favorite yacon syrup - I am delighted!
I suppose one really cannot have more than one favorite brand, but the Yacon Syrup that we ordered from Nutramin Labs is equally as good as the one we use now, from Quality Encapsulations. I think it must have something to do with the way both companies process the yacon. They also are both raw, and that could be one of the factors. This syrup is opaque, creamy, chocolatey, and sweet - with overtones of caramel and brown sugar. I could probably eat half of the bottle with a spoon - it is THAT good!Recently, we purchased yacon syrup from several different companies, and to date - the only two we found to have that "um-um-good" taste, without any bitterness, are from Nutramin Labs and Quality Encapsulations. It is also interesting, that only these two companies' syrups have a brown, creamy appearance - not a dark brown clear syrup consistency. When we get to the bottom of the bottle, we just put a little hot water in it, and shake it up, so we can use every last bit of it!

I like very much - but not 8oz
Tasty, good yacon root syrup. Only problem is you are paying for 8oz and get about 6oz. I like the stuff - does lessen my craving for sweets. I think that I've lost a little weight and it does have the probiotic properties which I like. I've bought several different "brands" but they are all short in quantity and all markings on the bottom of the bottles are identical. Thus, I think they all come from the same manufacturer. One more point, they all have a very thick layer on the bottom - I store it upside down and shake it very well and have no problem with emptying the bottles. 4 stars because not the quantity stated.

Too expensive
I could get the same result from a spoonful of Milk of Magnesia at a lot less money. It also got hard and you had to microwave it for it to come out of the bottle. Not a good investment for me.

This is my second bottle of Yacon syrup. First was from a different company and much better. This one was very viscous and I had to add water to get it out. I'm near the end and I might just have to through out the rest because it won't come out. I also didn't notice as dramatic of a decrease in my blood sugar and weight as I did with the first. But honestly, who can really know!! Life changes all the time and its difficult to pinpoint what causes what.

Sometimes you get what you pay for.
I decided to try this brand because it was about five dollars cheaper than the brand I had been using. Big mistake. I don't get the energy boost I was getting from the other brand, and it doesn't taste as good (I guess that is simply personal preference). I didn't try it for weight loss and can't really give an opinion on that. I just wanted a good alternative to sugar and was surprised by how much I liked the other brand. Sorry, I can't recommend this. In this case, the five dollar difference seems to make all the difference in the world.

Delicious
This syrup is really delicious, with a molasses-like flavor but without any of the bitterness of molasses. It is rich and sweet with notes of caramel, malt and chocolate. It has a similar flavor profile to coconut sugar. It is also supposed to be very high in FOS, if that is what you're looking for. I was, but then I realized that all the studies that showed good results for FOS supplementation started with people who were not getting much in their diet. I eat a lot of vegetables so I probably already get a lot of FOS in my diet. Since this syrup is quite expensive, I probably won't buy it again, but I do like it.
