TiMOVO Green Backlight Keyboard for Xbox Gaming Controller, Black

Here is what I did to setup the device for use with my Xbox Elite Series 2 controller. - Ensured the xbox controller was fully updated via the Xbox accessories app on the Xbox. - Turned the controller off. - Plugged in the chatpad until it made a good solid connection. (It does not click into place) - Plugged the 2.4GHz receiver into the Xbox. - Turned on the controller (the chatpad lit up solid green) and immediately pressed the sync button on the chatpad. - Tested the chatpad in game and it is working perfectly. ---------------------------------------- Now, onto the functionality in game. This chatpad is a literal USB keyboard. I bought this because I started playing Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV). My hope was that this chatpad could act as extra inputs for regular hotbars alongside the controller cross-bars. I disabled the direct chat setting in-game and setup a hotbar on-screen. I then setup the keybinds on the chatpad that I wanted for the hotbar. Finally, I added the actions I wanted by using the virtual mouse to drag the actions to the hotbar. It works perfectly! I now have all the general actions I need set to the hotbar and bound to the chatpad. Meanwhile all my crossbars are setup for combat. It also still has the regular keybinds for keyboard, this allows me to still quickly use the chatpad for chat by pressing enter on the chatpad and typing out my message. --------------------------------------- The negatives. - The chatpad construction feels sturdy but while inserted into the controller it does have a slight flex if you press with a decent amount of force on the sides of the chatpad. As long as you don't slam down on the chatpad with a ton of force it should be ok. - It is going to decrease the battery life of the controller but not by much. The chatpad draws 40mA while the keyboard is lit but the backlight turns off after 6 seconds of no use. It also draws an extra 0.8mA when a button is pressed. Not enough to worry about for me. - The button inputs are momentary. You can't walk around continuously while using WASD input. That may be an issue for some users who want that. Overall, these negatives are not enough to be an issue to me. For some these may be dealbreakers. -------------------------------------- This chatpad is amazing for the price. I can see myself using it for a long time. I will update this review if I have any issues with it or if it stops working.

I got this because I play ESO at night a lot, and I am the type of person who likes playing in the dark. There was some issues with keys not typing but that was fixed after I checked for a controller update. Backlight is great, senses when you've accessed a feature that needs typing and automatically lights up on top of the expected activation when you start typing. My only issue with it is that I can't seem to be able to use headsets with it. While it will continue to type if I have a headset on, the headset will stop working - particularly the mic on my headset. Originally thought it was a headset issue, since I used to have a "wireless" headset that connected to the controllor, but it did the same thing when I got a totally wireless headset that connected directly to my xbox one. I actually got this as a replacement for a chatpad that started to have this issue out of nowhere; it was of the same brand with glow-in-the-dark buttons. I'm not sure, but I think its possibly an unaddressed firmware issue between this brand and xbox ones; my previous chat pad worked fine with my old headset for a few years before the problem started. When I tried the old chatpad with my new headset, neither audio nor the mic worked. Just something to keep in mind if you have an XBox One. Good product otherwise.

The following review is made with product. Compared to the absolutely lovely Xbox 360 Microsoft chatpad, the product looks and feels cheap. It also does not sit flush with my controller, but it does feel well attached. Have no idea how well the 3.5mm jack passthrough works, I already have headphones for my PC. not a huge fan of key layout either. The backlight is useful, but maybe too bright for my preferences. The keys are responsive and have good haptic feedback, but feel a bit too soft and are a bit small for my fat thumbs. You also pretty much have to use sticky keys, and the backspace being near space and shift is meh. Aside for the gripes I figure it will mostly take getting used to, which I'm sure will come with use. I use this now with FFXIV and enjoy being able to chat without reaching for a keyboard. I'm also using the number buttons for party targeting and have some hotbar functions on the upper left. With JoyToKey or a similar program I use the controller to emulate mouse to brows the web or navigate here to write this review. For the most part I would definitely recommend this for PC use. During the typing of tis review, I corrected about five typos, but that should alleviate with practice.

The product is made of cheap light plastic and though light is nice, it's borderline bad quality. The keys are small and hard to hit accurately with bigger hands rendering it fairly annoying to use but it seems responsive enough. The lighting on the keys isn't great but it's ok for low light gaming. The keys feel cheap but functional, you won't be raving about it but you will probably find it serviceable. The real issue for me is that I thought it worked like a regular controller chat pad and the dongle was optional, it is not. I have no more free spots for dongles on my gaming rig and didn't plan for this issue at all. I have literally used it for one day and found it's just not worth the hassle to plug it and unplug it to use my keyboard and mouse. I fully regret this purchase and caution anyone who considers it to closely read everything about it first before you jump. It's not a bad product it's just not what I wanted or needed. It's one flaw is big enough to kill it for me and I wish I returned it immediately.

Easy to install. Makes typing so much easier and quicker.

The keypad and build quality are what I expect from a third-party accessory, but the way that the 3.5mm headset passthrough doesn't plug all the way in to the controller takes a star away automatically; the sound quality suffers due to a buzzing noise. The color options are pretty two-dimensional, I'd like more colors like a solid red, light blue and maybe a grey. I purposefully bought the white one with intent to customize because of the lack of options. The feel of the accessory or peripheral is, like I said earlier, what one could expect when you buy third-party accessories. Flimsy shell, stiff keys (also, questionable wiring?) Value for money? It's good but not great. I'm keeping it because I think I can make it work better with a few modifications.

I have only had it for a little over 24 hours but it works great so far! Love it! I just have a couple of gripes. - I don't like how the only thing keeping it still is the connection to the controller. Every time I push a button, I can feel it bending the connection. Though, I don't think there is a fix for this unless you want a massive attachment. - It does not feel durable and will last long. For one, cheap plastic. - Sometimes it won't register your inputs and other times it will overdo like pressing "f" and getting ffff I use it on the original 1st gen Xbox one controller. All in all, 20$ for this, assuming it lasts at least half a year, is fine. So, 15$ more isn't the worst.

Sehr einfach anschließbar. Tasten funktionieren ohne das man darauf zu fest drücken muss und die Beleuchtung am Abend ist super, nicht zu hell und nicht zu dunkel. Kann es nur empfehlen. Bin sehr zu Frieden. Preis Leistung ist super!!!

Avevo la versione originale per 360 e funzionava bene ma per Series X non mi pare esista. Ho comprato questa perchè retroilluminata. Al tatto è più leggera dell'originale che non è detto sia un difetto se poi il prodotto si dimostra durevole. L'istallazione è facile e al test funziona tutto regolarmente, istruzioni non in italiano e non molto chiare, ma ci sono tutorial online. Inizialmente non mi andava giù che ci fosse la chiavetta usb wifi (che l'originale non aveva) ma, oltre al fatto che neanche si vede sulla porta frontale della Series X, va a proteggere la porta USB dalla polvere visto che, quando sono andato a inserire la chiavetta, ho notato che la porta ne era piena.

Moral of this story - don't assume you know what you are doing, always go through the instructions step by step. Once fitted it hardly gave any additional weight in the hand, does not get in the way at all of the controls and is perfect for quick typing to chat in games - especially the larger online games. For the money, I find this to be very acceptable, especially given how much it makes typing faster and so much easier than using the controller to pick out letters one at a time via an on-screen keyboard. For such a small price (£25.99 at the time of this review) it is worth every penny and, having seen it in use, this is likely to be an essential add-on for gamers who might also need to type or chat during their gaming session. Provided the instructions are read first then there should be no problem at all setting this up and using it.
