About the Startup Describe your product in 3 words. Home Security Evolved How did you come up with the idea for this product? It started from the belief that we should all feel our homes are safe and sound, day and night. We saw emerging trends video analysis, learning systems and smart homes, and thought we could put these to good use in home security systems. With this in mind, and having some great technical skills on-board, we set out with the goal of creating a truly smart home security technology product based on wi-fi cameras. We examined the weaknesses of existing products and, without putting it too simply, worked hard to engineer a system that overcame them. What we’ve created not only helps protect loved ones and property, but it is cost effective, easy to self-install and lets you actually see what’s happening in your home, holiday house or small business. We think CleverLoop is now a product that helps give people peace of mind, and so far the feedback is supporting this! What makes your product special? CleverLoop is a smart security system that minimises false alarms because it learns what’s normal and what’s out of the ordinary – others claim to do this, CleverLoop actually does! We think the ideal smart home security system looks after the entire home, from the back yard to the front door. For this reason, CleverLoop is engineered and designed to support up to 4 HD indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi cameras. Local storage and analysis, combined with Geofencing, make CleverLoop more private and secure than the majority of security systems on the market. We combine all of this in a simple to set up, easy to use system. What has been the best part of your startup experience? Starting a business, especially one that brings hardware and software together, is a real challenge. The good news is we’ve loved almost every minute of it, and the feedback from CleverLoop users is inspiring!

Check out the videos of the Sheriff hauling out the Burglar in cuffs
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. My experience with an intruder alert. I had just landed in Phoenix from Mazatlán and turned my phone on… Bam I had multiple alarms. Someone was in my house! My wife and I were going through US Customs and I’m calling my local Sheriff’s office dispatch and telling them I had a burglary on going! I got call back from the Sargent onsite at my home, it appeared to them that the burglar was still in my home and they were calling the K9 unit! They caught him and when finally landed in Spokane I was able to watch the video of them sending in the dog and hauling the burglar out. We didn’t lose a thing and the cost of this awesome device was thousands less that my insurance deductible! I know for sure they would not have caught him if I had a monitored until with a siren. We live five miles out of town. Here's the video on you tube [...]Mike

Waste of Money!!!
Bought this system Jan 2016. This is more of a pet / child monitor than a "security system." I had nothing but trouble from the very start. I ordered one outdoor camera and two indoor. One of the indoor camera's wasn't in color as advertised and one was. The one that was in color, would go in and out of color randomly. After a few days of diagnosing they allowed me to return the defective camera and refunded me a portion of the purchase price. These only record 10 seconds of footage. One day I started to get error messages when trying to view recorded footage on my iphone using the app. I could not view them at all, so at this point anything that was captured and recorded could not be viewed. Fortunately they would play on my wife's phone so we decided not to return the whole set up. After weeks of back and forth and me sending them video clips for them to diagnose the problem, NOTHING WAS RESOLVED. They couldn't figure out why. It was left at that, still to the day cant view any clips.About two months ago the base station, the brains of the entire system, went dead. Per their request I tried a different power source so we could determine if it was the power supply or base station. It was the base station, completely dead, doesn't work. Since the base station doesn't work the cameras are useless for anything other than monitoring our pet. They wanted $200 for just the base station. REMIND YOU, I HADN'T EVEN HAD THE SYSTEM FOR A YEAR. last email I sent to them was last week asking if there was any warranty on the base station, no answer. On a positive note, this is a good pet monitor, although if it is used for just that it is wayyyyyyyyyyyy overpriced. The audio feature was cool and worked 100% of time. Allows you to use the mike on the indoor camera that you can speak through using your app. There are much better options on the market.

Good system, but not perfect
UPDATE ON MARCH 2017:It's been a little over a year now since I first installed the system, and unfortunately I'm going to deduct 2 additional stars.1) For several months now, there's been an issue with their Android app where there would be a 5-30 minute lag between an Alert and the receipt of the security notification. For example, if the cameras caught a potential intruder at 12:00pm, the system will record and flag it as an Alert, but the app won't actually send me a notification on my phone until maybe 12:30pm or so. As you can see, this essentially renders Cleverloop to be useless as a security system. The dev team has been aware of this issue since at least the middle of January, but there's been no fix yet despite several emails to them.2) Cleverloop just isn't that clever. After a year of consistently training it, it still has a hard time differentiating between actual Alerts and Movements. I don't know what's going on in their algorithm, but if there were a handful 10-second clips of virtually the same thing -- same lighting, same subjects, same movements -- maybe 70% would be correctly flagged as an Alert, while the rest would inexplicably be ignored as a Movement. Training the system doesn't seem to improve detection over time.ORIGINAL REVIEW ON FEB 2016:I spent months researching all the top IP systems on the market, but ended up rejecting each of them because of one flaw or another. Cleverloop came on my radar early on in the search, and the feature list was pretty much everything I was looking for, but I hesitated due to the lack of reviews online. For some reason, most of the articles that discussed Cleverloop are by bloggers based in New Zealand, and at the time of this writing, there were only 13 other reviews on Amazon. In the end, I decided to pull the trigger because I simply wasn't finding any other alternative that fit my needs. The features that Cleverloop offers which are important to me:1) No monthly fees!!!!2) Uploads 10 second clips to the cloud only when it notices an unusual event. Many other IP systems would be continually uploading to the cloud, which unnecessarily eats up bandwidth.3) The price point was really affordable.4) The camera quality was at least relatively decent. I was surprised at how many IP cameras were out there that had subpar quality, to the point where you couldn't quite make out facial features.5) Local AND cloud backup! However with that said, I did encounter a handful of issues in the last 2 weeks of using Cleverloop:1) Setup was a bit frustrating, and took me a couple hours. This was partly because the first camera I tried setting up was faulty and was eventually replaced. But for the other two cameras, the Wifi setup using my Android phone never worked no matter what I did. I ended up having to install the SearchPro app on my laptop, manually update the firmware on each of the cameras, connect them with the ethernet cable to the router, complete the setup, disconnect the cable, and then re-do the setup using wifi.2) Geolocation, which is one of their selling points, doesn't always seem to work. It'll sometimes take several minutes before the system recognizes that you're home... all the while you're receiving alert after alert. Annoying! And occasionally, it simply doesn't ever get around to recognizing you're home. In those cases, I've had to restart the Cleverloop app and also open up Google Maps to make doubly sure that the phone knows where I am.4/18/16 update: After weeks of back and forth with the dev, geolocation issues have all been fixed. The dev is super responsive.3) There's often a several second gap between the time a person walks into the camera frame, and when it starts recording. Robbers move fast, and if they see a camera, they'll hide their face immediately. This means that the chances of Cleverloop catching footage to ID the intruder isn't as high as it should be. (However, this seems to be a common flaw for IP systems that aren't uploading footage continually.)4/18/16 update: This issue has gotten better, but hasn't entirely been eliminated yet.All in all, Cleverloop is a pretty decent and promising product, with some improvements to be made. Until something better comes along, I'll be sticking with this. Hopefully in the months and years to come, they'll continue making improvements to their software and hardware.

Unreliable
Liked the system but unreliable. Picture was good and setup was ok. System would go off line and wouldn't automatically reconnect. I would have to manually unplug to restart. Technical support was good but only available via email. No phone support. I've recently got a different more popular camera and that works better. Im not a techie person. If phone support was available I feel there was a good chance to solve them problem. Ultimately, had to return it. Customer service was very helpful.
