Yes. I have successfully used it on oak frames.

Q: I will be using for attaching backs on picture frames only. Will I use rigid points or the flexible? What is the difference?

Rigid points don’t bend. Flexible allow you to bend them out of way to remove a painting to change it.

Q: Is this tool correct for holding the matting and glass in frames?

Yes, this is the correct tool - works perfectly.

Q: Does it come with points?

Comes with small package of points. You will want to buy an extra package if you are doing much framing.
