Are the mountains raised?

The surface of the Mariner Globe is smooth.

Is anyone having trouble putting it together? Littlke wooden "washer'" is not right & the base won't sit flat due to screw sticking out bottom?

Just tighten the screw on the globe side. I hadn't realized it was loose until I was trying to figure out why the screw stuck out so far. Now it sits perfectly flat.

is no sudan and so sudan on here

Yes, this beautiful globe has the latest cartography including South Sudan.

Are the oceans the same color as pictured on the Amazon product page?

Yes, this is a current image of this globe. Enjoy!
