Baby Food Mill Grinder

Love this food mill. We use it for the pureed food needed for a G-tube diet. It would also be perfect for baby food.We have also used the Cuisinart mini chopper, the small size stainless old-fashioned food mill, the Magic Bullet, and the Munchkin food mill.My assessments:1. Cuisinart mini chopper: great for bigger tasks and for pureeing larger amounts to a smooth consistency2. Small Stainless old-fashioned food mill: does a great job, but too much food loss and trouble for small servings3. Magic Bullet: does not do small (1/4-1/2 cup) servings well. Things get stuck to the sides and it doesn't puree them4. Munchkin food mill: lighter-weight than the Kidalog, blade pops out more easily ending up in a big mess, blades don't grind things like chicken and fish well. The Kidalog grinds a variety of foods more easily.The Kidalog is the best when comparing the Munchkin to the Kidalog food mills because:The Kidalog is sturdier, has a wider more stable base; it does not leak; the center grinding disk stays in place well while grinding (Only turn crank Clockwise, as with the Munchkin, if you turn the crank the other direction, the grinding disk will be released ending up in a mess); he blade works better than the Munchkin ( I can't figure out why, but it works better); the Kidalog has a clear cover than can be placed on top as you grind which is usefulfor things that might squirt like blueberries.Easy to clean, no spots where food gets stuck.Suggestions:Gently press down on the base while you grind, allowing the blades to do the work especially on meats or items that are tougher. (This was a good suggestion from another reviewer). Just stick to cranking Clockwise and all will work well.Takes a few more days to receive from Canada, but it is worth the wait! I was impatient and bought the Munchkin first.

If you are looking for an infant food mill.... don't look anymore and just buy this now! After buying and returning MANY infant food mills, including fancy $150.00 automatic blenders.... I have found this one to be by far the best. It was sold out for a while but I waited a couple of months for it to come back and bought it right away. I would recommend this to any mom who wants to make their own baby food.Pros:Easy to use, Easy to clean, comes with a splash guard so no mess, easily grinds fruits with skins like blueberries and meat like cooked chicken, small enough to carry around everywhere, simple smart design.Cons:Not great for very large batches (if you are making a ton of something to freeze), shipping is expensive but makes sense because it's coming from Canada.

Helpful in creating a consistency of food for younger babies. I'm still using this for some food preparation at 14 months, but I may not need it much longer. Leaves little food unground and cuts down on waste. Comes apart easily for cleaning and doesn't stain. I think the price was too high with shipping. I wish that I would have at least tried one of the used food mills for sale at $2-$3 before purchasing this one, as the length of time you can use this product is short before your child moves on to the next stage of eating. Having a suction on the bottom to hold it onto the counter would have been nice. The item did ship in just a couple of weeks. It was easy to bring to restaurants or when visiting friends for dinner.

I am a grandma and used a babyfood grinder when my children were babies. When I went to look for one for my grandchildren, they were all cheaply made, leaked and didn't work. I LOVE this grinder. It is well made, works great, leaks only slightly (at worst) and only when there is liquid. I ended up buying one for me and one for my daughter and daughter-in-law. It's a bit pricey, but this is an instance where you get what you pay for and this grinder is well worth the extra price.

Once I figured out how to use it it was relatively easy. It does take a little bit of elbow grease to get the food to come out.

The Happy Baby Food Grinder was a fantastic tool to grind Most foods into baby food. This attempt unfortunately is not well made so the grinder doesn't fit and stay in place while your trying to use it... so nothing gets done. Can't even give it away...

Best handheld grinder I have found. Simple to use and clean. Grinds quality, healthy homemade meats veggies and fruits for baby. Just feed your baby the healthy foods you make for the rest of your family. No need to buy jarred babyfood. My original grinder is decades old and was well used for 3 babies. I was happy to find it available for my grandchild.

I've only had it for a few days. So I can't rate the long term durability.But I have tried it with one of the vegetables, that I thought would be a healthy test:steamed asparagus. Did a side-by-side test of my KidCo mill next to this Kidalog Mill, and the Kidalog Mill did decidedly better. Since it has both a metal strainer plate and a metal sweeper, it seems to really cut the food rather than perform as an over-glorified "ricer".Comes with metal strainer plate, metal sweeper, and another strainer. Didn't use the strainer (too fine of a mesh for most things). Seems more sturdy built larger base for better/easier pressing.
