This book is written for anyone who wants to learn how to handle a Chinese abacus using a practical approach. It provides a step-by-step guide, accompanied by graphics in order for you to follow explanations without having a Chinese abacus in hands. Each chapter contains several examples. You will learn how to use a Chinese abacus and understand the basic rules and operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and also square root extraction. Review: Easy Reader, Demonstartions and Examples - Several months back I got a 13 digit Abacus because I have always been intrigued with their abilities. I have a friend who used one in school and today he can do the math without having an actual abacus in hand, just flipping his fingers up and down in the palm of his other hand. I was always amazed at that. After checking out a few online videos that moved a little quick for my beginning skills, I decided to slow things down and purchased this book. This book has been a real help. Each example is clearly explained and backed up with visual images for you to follow. In no time my skills started to improved and I have a pretty good grasp on addition and subtraction and have looked tentatively at multiplication but haven't moved on to that just yet. The Chinese Abacus: Practical Step-By-Step Guide is an easy read and the instructions are explained clearly and you can start picking up the steps pretty quickly. I'm pretty determined to learn the abacus and this book will get me started, I'm confident of that. Nice book. Well detailed and laid out in easy to learn form. Quality photos show the detail of your beads and best of all, this book will allow you to move along at your own speed. Review: it's great - it's great
