Excelent microscope for a student, or a geek who just wants one in the house.
This microscope is great, Clarity is very good considering the price. You definetely get a lot more than you pay for.Pros:1. 2 LED's, the second is an incidence light allowing you to see opaque objects. In layman terms, traditional microscopes are used for transparent samples and are lid from the bottom to the top. Opaque objects aren't transparent so to view them you need the incidence light that is on top thus you watch reflected light off the speciment. Great for insect parts etc.2. Both LED's very bright, allowing for effective brightness control.3. Very easy to focus, it has both a coarse and find adjustment.4. Extremely well built, metal construction, with handle.5. Power supply and batteries both supplied.6. Fairly certain all lenses are glass ( very good, some of the other microscopes at this price range have at least some or all lenses made of plastic.7. Nice set of filters for the light.Negatives:1. Very limited number of included prepared slides (5), new blank slides (5) and no bundled directions as you get with other beginner microscope for students. Keep in mind though that you can buy separately very nice kits with dozens of prepared samples and excellent books, so negative yes, but not a reason not to buy this, just remember to factor at least some extra prepared slides in your purchase, or read up on the net how to make your own ( and buy some more blank slides)2. No included case, or back or any way to transport this easily, a dust cover ( sort of ) is in the box, but made of very cheap plastic and it won't last.

Great value and ideal for fellow Koi keepers
I use this to take body and fill scrapes from my Koi to check for parasites. 1000x room is plenty, considering most fish parasites are visible at about 200x magnification. For £50, can't go wrong. Well made, sturdy, easy to use and does the job. It comes with two interchangeable lenses at 10x and 25x magnification and three fixed lenses at 4x 10x and 40x. Ideally, it should've come with a few more interchangeable lenses to find a more accurate magnification, as you essentially have 40x 100x 100x 250x 400x and 1000x.If like me, you need a microscope for your Koi keeping hobby or just for educational purposes; this model is good enough and great value.Haven't seen any parasites yet, but that's not a fault with the microscope; just healthy fish!

Fantastic for the price!!
What a fantastic little dingy microscope! I’m so pleasantly surprised. I got it for very simple microscopy work as I already have a more complex lab microscope, and it’s just the loveliest little thing and has a fine focus as well as coarse, I wish the stage could be moved back and forth and side to side but that’s ok for the price.I will be ordering one or two for my kids. Much better than those kids (toy) microscopes which cost a lot more but don’t do anything and are so fiddly!! Great purchase! And has a backlight which is cool. No instructions manual in the box though not much assembling to do anyway.

Great item shame about picture
Great microscope real easy to use and good build quality so I give it 5 stars, but there's a but the photo that advertises this item is misleading as it shows the book and accessories none of which come with this item, one of the q&a says that it came with the book this is incorrect, the description of the item is correct you get 10 slides 5 are blank with cover slides and the other 5 have specimens to start you off, you also get another magnification lens batteries and a cover. The advertised pictures also show a multicolour filter disc under the platform this is not the case it only has different size holes, as I have reading difficulties I tend to go by images rather than descriptions to get the item in picture it's about another £40 on top.But rant over this is still a great item.

Money well spent
Impressive quality. I bought this for my soon-to-be 9 years old's upcoming birthday. I initially bought a cheaper one (£35) which turned out to be a glorified toy - possible to see things magnified but frustrating to use and limited in what you can see, all plastic. This microscope is easier to use and the view is, in my limited experience, fantastic. It has a metal body and seems very robust. My only criticism - and it's not really a criticism - is that it didn't come with many extras; just the microscope with a few slides (in a sturdy little case!) and a plastic cover. This meant I had to put together my own accessory kit in anticipation of my child wanting to make her own slides and her dad plans to make a protective case. Maybe the makers wanted to focus on presenting a quality microscope at a good price, with none of the fluff. Never mind, I was able to put together a good kit for less than £15 (sample pots, larger slide case, 72 slides, droppers, dissection kit etc). Also bought the Complete Book of the Microscope to go with it.She hasn't received it yet but I think she will love it.
