Q: Is it a bad idea to put the 4600 shocks on the rear, and just go with the cheaper Monroe strut assembly on the front?

In my opinion it's not a bad idea. I can't speak to the ride quality of Monroe, I've never had them on my Tacoma. But I can say that after replacing all four stock shocks with the 4600 Bilstein, I notice a great improvement.

Q: How tight do you torque the bolt on the shocks?

I had someone else install the shocks but I would think that 50 ft lbs with locktite would be in the ball park.

Q: i have a 2000 tacoma 6 lug. will these shocks fit both sides on the rear? or do you have to get one for the left and one for the right ?

No quite sure, if nothing is different on the Tacoma from 1998-2000 they should fit!
