ScanSnap iX1600 Wireless or USB High-Speed Document Scanner, Black

My job requires me to scan documents from wherever I am. The reason I bought this was because it is the first one I have found that scans professionally - TO MY PHONE. I used to have to carry a laptop with me. I love now being able to travel with less equipment. It’s a little tricky setting up as it has its own WiFi and there are moments I am not sure if I am doing it correctly, but all I can say is hang in there because it is worth it. The quality of the scans are superb and I love that it is so fast. When I scan ID, it will do both sides at the same time. My clients love it because they get their documents right away. The only thing I do notice is that after very little use, sometimes I go to scan and get a message that reads “glass is dirty” and that will prevent any scanning from occurring until it’s clean. I keep it in a case designed for this scanner between use so not sure how it is so sensitive. But now I just make sure I always have the proper cleaner sheet in hand.

I had the fujitsu i500 for years. Prior to getting this upgrade. The 500 was like the gold standard and I know is still heavily purchased in aftermarket. The problem with it was the WiFI was janky at best on that model. The iX1600 is awesome. Simply put. LIke all Fujitsu scanners, and the 500 it maintains the things you want out of a sheet feed scanner (that other brands have never mastered). This includes taking in all different sizes of stuff and just 'dealing' with it, lightning-fast, and a robust feature set. The ix1600 brings a superset of the 500 in my findings. and several things I didn't expect. 1. Its sheet feeder seems more accurate. Near the end of the time with my 500 I would get times it pulled several pages. This may be due to the age, but this new model doesn't do that at all. 2. The wireless works flawlessly. Open it, and press scan and stuff shows up in ScanSnap. 3. Finally, the LCD screen for which i didn't really care about, is really awesome when linked to the ScanScap Fujitsu cloud. I use a lot of applications that just need things scanned directly to the cloud. e.g. Expensify. No need to scan, save, and upload on your computer. setup an automation, and you open the scanner, press the button Expensify, and scan... It's done. Your computer doesn't even have to be on. I've only scratched the surface of what the automation features can offer. Like many others have mentioned - This is packed with features, and that comes at a bit of a learning curve in their software that is filled with useful stuff but sometimes their documentation lacks. (Saying this, google searching anything you want to do, and you'll find it). If you need to regularly scan, and deal with lots of media types and sizes, and just want to improve your workflow - this is the brand and the scanner to go with. It makes stuff from Epson and HP look like children's toys.

I bought a Fujitsu Scansnap S510 in 2007, and that wonderful scanner served me well for about 17 years, yes ladies and gentlemen ! Of course I need to be honest, there was a bit of a hiccup a few years after buying it, they stopped releasing new versions of the software and I suddenly couldn't use my scanner anymore when I upgraded my Windows (to version 8, 9, or 10, I don't remember). I found a solution though, I bought a piece of software that can use every scanner in the world, so I was able to continue using my Scansnap S510 for many years. Like I said, 17 years of loyal services in total ! And the scan quality was absolutely perfect for me, even nowadays. To my big surprise it finally died now, in April 2024. There are little rubber things designed to pull the paper, they ended up being melted somehow. I guess rubber is not eternal after all. I imagine I could have attempted to replace these parts, but I did not want to bother and just bought the new iX1600. New Scansnap, same experience. I am still absolutely delighted. The software improved a lot I would say, I prefer it over the 2007 version. The scanner is otherwise still the same great scanner it always was. It is fast, the quality of the scans is amazing, the software is easy and intuitive. It eats and sorts piles of papers quickly without causing trouble or jamming, it is an absolute pleasure to scan with this device. It has amazing extra bells and whistles, like wireless connection, usability from a mobile device, upload scans to the cloud etc. Not really necessary in my opinion, I scan on my PC and the folder is already synchronized with my Cloud solution, but the options are there and they work well. Hopefully it will also last another 17 years ! ;-)

Amazing - totally worth it as a dedicated scanner. Design is well thought out and smart! Puts other scanners to shame. Super fast (~ 40 pages per min), flawless, duplex, simplex, auto-crops, right sizes images, OCR, can modify pages after scanning (rotate, delete pages). Plus you can make short work of your piles of photos from the 80s!! (Scan to your phone) — use manual mode for that. Also you can say goodbye to paper! (Scan in all your mail as it arrives then throw away or shred). Use the ScanSnap local app but also has cloud scanning and email scanning. Don’t even consider the lower tier scan snaps — the $400 is worth it. And buy the special Fujitsu drum cleaner.

Amazing scanner; fast, doesn't jam as always with these kinds of products, the software is an afterthought but it's really not the worst of them all either. Worth it for the hardware

When I first bought this scanner and tried using it over the weekend, I ran two batches of 33 family photos through it. Honestly, I wasn't very happy with the initial results, and I noticed that this scanner tends to jam often. So, I resorted to manually scanning and cropping a bunch of other photos using my normal flatbed scanner built into my printer. Well....... that method didn't work great either and was MUCH slower. The problem with my flatbed scanner is, although the images ARE higher resolution than the ones this scanner gives me (this scanner does around 720p quality, give or take, depending on the photo size), the flatbed scanner introduces all sorts of dust particles and artifacts in the scan that make me have to painstakingly fix each individual image in Gimp. After last night, I took a break from all that and took a second look at the scans the ScanSnap did with a fresh mind, and I realized that they actually were pretty good. The main issue I had with them was the vertical lines on darker images. My printer's flatbed scanner doesn't have the vertical lines but introduces dust particles instead. If I had to choose between removing dust particles and vertical lines, I'd probably prefer removing vertical lines. On top of that, the ScanSnap conveniently pre-determines the size of the image and crops it accordingly, so you don't have to do it, and then there's the obvious advantage of doing a bulk scan of 30+ images vs. 3 per scan. After all is said and done, the question becomes-- is this a good scanner? Yes, it is, and I'd say it's better/more robust than a flatbed scanner. I do wish there was a way to do slower/higher-quality scans, but the fact that it can do 30+ photos at a time, there are no significant dust particle artifacts, and it pre-crops the images for you, plus it has features for reducing vertical stripes (and even if that didn't work, you could still fine-tune the images in Gimp). I'd say this is still a good scanner. Is it worth $400? Probably not, but if you don't have a printer, I'd say this is a good scanner to use.

After reading reviews about this scanner (ScanSnap iX1600 Wireless) I pulled the trigger - it came and after a short setup (including a pretty large app download, 1.4G) I am very pleased with it. I'm scanning photos and some documents - This ScanSnap iX1600 is doing great. It's quick - open the top and it's ready to go under a minute. Clear user interface on the scanner, and paper handling is very good. I have everything from 2x3 up to almost full page photos, and even when they're all in a stack they scan correctly. One of the best features is duplex scanning - you can scan the front and back of a page at the same time! Easy to set up as default, and also easy to choose it on the fly if you've got no-duplex as the default. Scanning time is very quick too - with options for auto-correct for red-eye, and color enhance. The thing that impresses me the most is that it does what its supposed to do and does it quickly, easily, quietly and without any tech headache or extended setup. I'm using this with a new PC-based computer with Win11, AMD Ryzen 9 processor and 32G RAM. It also worked fine with another PC with a N100 processor (slow) and 8G RAM. Very happy, I'd highly recommend this scanner for photos and docs. It won't scan slides or negatives but photos are great!

Okay, so I’ve been using scanners since the beginning. Through all types and iterations of flatbeds, resolutions, auto-feeders, and not-so-great OCR readers. My last one was the ScanSnap s1500. I was soo impressed with it, that when it finally came time for a replacement, I went for the latest and greatest ScanSnap. This iX1600 is that scanner. First, I should say that my old one is still working, but the rollers are getting gummy, and starting to break down after more than 10 years of daily service. Nothing else is wrong with it, which is a testament to how well these are built. So, when I got this iX1600, I expected more of the same. I was NOT prepared for how much the company had improved it. The speed of the scans is ridiculous. Ree-diculous. I thought the s1500 was fast, but this is insane. The software is leaps and bounds ahead of the s1500, and super configurable for techies like me. Pretty much anything at all can be changed. The scanner can even be set to run completely wirelessly (except for power, of course), and you can just drop documents into it and have it can to the cloud using WiFi. There’s a guide that comes with it for receipts of two different sizes, as well as regular paper. My old one would balk at heavier card stock, but this one powers through whatever I put in it, rotating/deskewing/processing the text into searchable words, and asks for more. This is, without a doubt, the most amazing scanner I’ve ever used. The only single ‘ding’ I can give it, is that the cover closed more smoothly and slowly on my s1500. Hope this helps.

The real deal! I was going to buy the ix1500 then I noticed they released this new model. I was skeptic all about how much faster it was but it really was! Even with over wifi. Really good buy.
