Are the blades serrates?

No, not serrated. I have used them for awhile now. Nice but don't drop them on a tile floor. I need to order.a.replacement.

Do the handles have a rubber coating on them?

The handles are more of a formed heavy plastic type material. Far from flimsy. This is my most favorite item l have ever purchased.

I suppose it is safe, however I never put my knives in the dishwasher. They are very easy to clean. No scrubbing necessary.
