Beistle Satin Sleek Top Hat | Black | (1-Unit)

I recently bought a real (male) human skeleton from an auction house. This was not a Halloween purchase - I have just always wanted one and the time/price was right. Mr. Skeleton has not yet arrived; he's off for a professional cleaning and refurbishing on the way here. When he gets to his new home, I am going to have a party to welcome and name him. So anyway, he hangs from a stand by a bolt and ring on the skull. I bought him a blue tie NEW SOLID ROYAL BLUE SATIN Mens Necktie Neck Tie , blue LED glasses Glofx Colored LED Glasses - Blue Led Glasses - For Rave Party - Durable High Quality and this hat for the occasion. (I also bought a bunch of glow sticks for the live guests 300 8" Premium Glow Stick Bracelets (10 Color Mixed Assortment) .) However, I will have to cut a hole in the hat so he can wear it. The hat arrived. It is FAR too sturdy and just plain awesome to ruin! It's shiny, well made, and looks like it cost a lot more than it did! Unlike some other reviewers, no one in the house had a problem with it being too small. I suppose some other Amazon buyers must have larger brains than my family! My 13 yr old son tried it right on and asked if I'd order another for him, so I just gave this one to him. This morning he even wore it to school; it was a special "wear a hat" day for a fundraiser. Now I'm torn - buy another for Mr. Skeleton, or get something more worthy of having a hole cut in it. If any of you have name ideas, leave me a comment. Today is 10/3/13...the party won't be for at least a month!

I bought 2 top hats and found that they were perfect for our needs. They are of good quality and are durable. They arrived quickly, however the brims were slightly bent, but not that noticeable. We are using them for steampunk costumes and were able to glue multiple items along the sides. They turned out better than expected. I would purchase these again in the future and recommend anyone that needs a top hat for a costume or other event to buy this one. Very reasonable in price and great look.

I got this product as quickly as promised, and I am exceptionally pleased with it. It is definitely sleek and looks to be quite expensive from far away, though it's obviously not a high quality product when you're handling it up close. I'm not sure what part of it is supposed to pass off as satin. The hat itself has the texture of a solidified felt instead of the smooth satin my other hats have. The ribbon is an extremely cheap packing ribbon that is messily hot glued where it crosses at the side. (That's not a problem for me since I intended to put a different ribbon on it from the start and urge anyone purchasing it to do the same if they're using it for a formal occasion.) The trim of the hat is a similar ribbon that is sewn on. The threading is a bit obvious on the trim; if you're nit-picky about that, remember you can always re-trim it easily for the price. The rim is very solid, as is the rest of the hat. It's definitely worth its low cost and more. So long as you don't crunch it, this will not fall down or anything. It definitely does what it's supposed to do, and it looks very nice and formal when you're wearing it. It's the perfect size for my medium-size head and is soft enough that it can be stretched for a larger one without looking silly. It's also not so large that it will swamp someone with a smaller head. It's the perfectly cheap solution for both costumes and formal occasions. It seems quite durable and doesn't stain easily so long as you wash the stain out by hand immediately afterwards. This product should last through many uses at various occasions and is heavy enough that it shouldn't be too quick to fly away if you choose to wear it outside. Thanks to the texture, it's also a bit more breathable in case of hotter events. However, I'd like to note that there is no seam or marking on the inside of it, so be sure to look up some pictures about how to wear it to avoid putting it on backwards without realizing it. It's a decent product even if it's not a hat of exceptional quality. You get what you pay for with this one.

We ordered this as a "suggested" item when purchasing a steam punk monocle for my son. It came in and I was quite pleased with it. For a "costume" piece it was made quite well. I was also very happy it came in not smashed up as I kind of expected it to be. Its nice and firm, not flimsy and the material looks like it will last quite some time. Very nice addition to his costume for the price. Fits my head a little small but it fit my sons head very well. He is 13. So it does run a tad small I guess for adults. My son bought this hat as an accessory to his Halloween costume (worn with a checkerboard morph suit). He was fine with it, but I was, meh. It's a fair price for what it is, but I don't know that I would have bought it off a shelf in a store. While described as "satin sleek" it is actually a very average pressed felt costume hat (like the material that the cap of Mickey Mouse ears is made out of). It was fine for a single night -- and really did complete the look of my son's costume -- but if you really want a glam top hat, it's not that glam. It provides the shape and effect, but just isn't polished for real wear. Last note, regarding sizing: the hat fit fine on my average sized 8th grade son, but seems intended for his age or smaller. I don't know that it would fit an average man.

This hat is far more durable looking than I thought it would be. I got for my sons Halloween costume. It is great for this purpose but could be used for for adult costumes or outfits too. It has a satin feel and is slightly shiny which adds to the quality look. I would recommend it if you need one for a costume.

I returned this hat after seeing it in person. While the product image provided looked nice, it was taken from a single angle and conveniently hides all the defects. Seeing this in person I saw the ribbon was fraying at the edges, there were places where the threads were coming loose, and the finishing of the edges of the trim were messy. The seller also sent this to me in a reused box with an existing label that they hadn't marked out, which is very unprofessional and I had to mark that out myself to make sure it wasn't scanned by mistake. On top of all that I had to pay for return shipping, which is very frustrating when the product images are so misleading. Overall a waste of my time and money.

I bought this to use as a base for a steampunk hat I made. Let me tell you, everyone who has seen it has tried to buy it from me. This is a very nice looking base if you are into steampunk hats. It was a bit big on me, but I remedied that by putting a foam ring inside. Worked like a charm.

While I didn't expect a whole lot for the price I paid, I did expect a little more than just a costume prop. This hat is, admittedly, a high quality costume prop.
