Q: What is the benefit to using this over the tub (Rutland Dry Creosote Remover Chimney Treatment, 2-Pound)?

No benefit, same stuff I believe. I switched to the tub myself. Works just the same (but cheaper) - throw a scoop in every week.

Q: what is the difference between these cannisters and the toss-in tubes, also by Rutland?

First off, there's two different toss in tubes - one to prevent soot and one to clean creosote. This product is exactly like the creosote toss-in tube but it's made out of cardboard like material instead of the plastic looking tube. It's also not something you would just toss in since the lid can pop off. I think they do the same thing except the tube appears to be better sealed where you could just throw it into the fire, while this one is a little more fragile. I wouldn't toss this into a fire, it works best if you place it nicely on top of the fire.

Absolutely not. For wood burning stoves.

Q: What's the difference between rutland creosote remover and kwik-shot soot stopper? both are made by rutland.

creosote is tar like substance that accumulate in chimneys & pipes this substance can burn at relativey low temprature and you need to manage it. it can lead to a chimney fire. soot is more like carbon powder and can burn at very high tempratures not as likely to cause a chimney fire . I see soot when running my wood stove at low tempratures but run it hotter and it'll disappear. if you have a dirty stove use the soot stopper. if you want to make creosote less of an issue in the exhaust use the creosote remover.
