Pros: I used it the day it arrived and within 15 minutes I found 11 Scorpions, 10 of which were tiny babies and this was along a 100 foot length of the east perimeter fence right next to my house. It lights up Scorpions at about ten feet even if they are tiny babies. Maybe further, but that's as far as I have used it distance wise. You see that blue spot and as you get closer you can see the very clear outline of a Scorpion. When you are up close you see the Scorpion clearly and it sticks out like a sore thumb. Without this light you'd never know it was there until it's too late. Gives me the creeps knowing how may times I've traversed the same area in shower shoes. Never again! The fence line there borders BLM land. Went out again on Safari looking for Scorpions and found more more next to the Pistachio trees and the well. Again, gives me the creeps knowing how many times I've been there wearing only shower shoes sandals on my feet. I've never seen so many Scorpions in my life as I have in the past two days and right on my own property. Of course the one I found in the kitchen was what got all this started. Now I hunt Scorpions. Body design of this light and materials seems well constructed, good quality. Doesn't look nor feel like some cheap stamp out. The entire body of it is milled for easily having a solid grip on it. The only thing that could have made this even better is if it had been made in U.S.A. UVBeast needs to work on that. Now have used Onslaught FastCap Scorpion killer. We'll see how well that works out when I check with my new UVBeast2 later. Cons: When I first opened the package and went to install the batteries a rubber O-ring type gasket fell onto the table as I unscrewed the end cap. It had been ripped apart. I'm guessing it's supposed to seal the battery cap, but this one never made it to my home in proper condition. I'll be contacting the manufacture about this tomorrow if all goes well. Other than that, no problems. I did notice that despite this using LEDs, or at least that's what they look like, the head of the light gets really warm. It's not any problem, just an observation. Doesn't seem to harm anything. I suppose it can't be helped, but this light will also light up some kinds of debris type trash. For example, if your dog ran off with a pillow out into the yard and chewed it to death that white cotton like stuffing also lights up with that same blue dot effect. Stuff you didn't even know was in your yard. Of course you can quickly tell the difference between that and a Scorpion. Make no mistake, there is no mistaking that very detailed outline. Recommendation: Definitely happy with this UV light so far. Highly recommend it. It's going to get a lot of use. Like I said, it gives me the creeps knowing that I've got such a Scorpion infestation, but now that I know I can do something about it. Scorpions can be deadly to children and the elderly, not to mention life threatening to just about anyone. Most definitely will give you a very bad day if you survive getting stung by one. They're voracious climbers, though surprisingly I didn't find any in the trees. Climbing up the side of your home though and into the attic via a gable vent is definitely not good. That allows them access to your home via any space around a ceiling fan, light fixtures, register, vent, attic access door, or up-duct they can fit through. If you have a ceiling fan over your bed you won't be sleeping too well knowing what might drop down onto that fan motor housing and then onto your blanket. That's horror movie stuff right there. Update: I contacted the folks at UVBeast about the O-ring issue. Great conversation with Karl and exceptionally helpful with supplying extra knowledge for hunting Scorpions. Willing to help immediately on the first contact. Now that's customer service! O-ring replacements are on the way. Two other points: 1) The spare O-rings were supposed to be in the bubble wrap bag with the flashlight and might be easily missed. Well, they weren't, but this might help others to know where to look. 2) It's claimed that the light doesn't work on tiny baby Scorpions and adult Scorpions that have recently went through their molt due to a lack of florescence. I don't know about the molt thing, but I can tell you that this light will most definitely light up those tiny babies like little blue beacons. Found 10 of them along the over a 100 foot east perimeter fence line going forward towards the front of the property in ten minutes. Ya, it definitely works. :o) Update 2: Well, I laid down a spray of Onslaught FastCap Scorpion killer and the following day started using the UVBeast2 to look for Scorpions. It's been near two weeks now and not one single Scorpion has been spotted. So far, Peace of mind. Side note: For those of you who want to tease your wife, and are in a position to not find yourself on the receiving end of a rolling pin thumping, I noticed something else that UVBeast2 does. If you are using cast iron for cooking and you think it's perfectly clean, whip out your UVBeast2, turn off the lights, and then call for the Misses. If you survive what she sees on that cast iron then either it's actually clean or the Misses is going to be demanding new cookware. Quite possibly you will as well. :oD

The Beast is truly the beast of UV lights. Very powerful, superb quality product and is also great for using to identify specific elements in rock hounding and rock collections. It also comes with comfortable safety yellow glasses to protect your eyes and to allow you to see what you want to see. Highly recommended!

So far it seems to work well. We’ve had it a couple of weeks and use it every night. I like that you can toggle the button so it goes to three different brightnesses. I did not realize this at first but then I read the package and discovered this feature. I only like to use the brightness feature now. It seems very well made and better quality than one I bought at a local store. Also I live that this mini beast version only takes three batteries instead of six batteries. One of our larger black lights that takes six batteries eats them so quickly and the brightness is about the same equivalency, so I like this black light for that reason. Using fewer batteries and having strong brightness is an excellent feature. I also feel like the company stands behind the product and has sent follow up emails to make sure we are satisfied. I like a company that does that! But I lost my packaging so I don’t know if I can use the extended warranty if needed. We use this black light uv light mini beast to check for scorpions every night here at our home and yard in AZ. It really does work to see the scorpions glow and then we can stay protected!

Very robust and a very positive on.off switch I used this to light to look at my DSLR Camera and noticed in the main areas where the camera is handled grips etc that there appeared to a greenish hue so cleaned part of the camera with a dampened cotton bud and plain water (took some time though) the area i was cleaning some sort of residue was being lifted off ( which may have been bacteria from sweat residue and breath which is unavoidable when holding a DSLR up to your eye) if the light is showing up bacteria then it will prove very useful in ensuring cleanliness overall i would definitely recommend the uvBeast to anyone looking for to buy an item such as this the after sales support in the supplier sending out informative emails was unexpected but very welcome
