Q: when does the sound activate?? do you click a button or does it go off when the child sits?

It plays when pee or poo hits the sensor. You can activate sound manually with the button if you want to encourage the kid with it first or if for some reason the sensor didn't go on. Our works 95% of time, the only issue is if the number 2 drops outside the sensor reach or the bowl wasnt dried properly before putting back in the potty and the kid decides to use it when it's still wet

Q: So does this come with a splash guard now or not? Reviewers in early 2021 said it wasn’t available

If you look st it....seat is made with splash guard already. Did youblook at it?

Q: Can you use a normal AA battery, mine isn't working but I don't have an akaline battery?

I had alkaline and it still didnt work properly. Sensor doesnt work to play celebratory music or sounds while child is avtually doing their business.

Q: How can I be sure it will come with a splash guard?

You can't, I and many others have contacted them about it and been refunded rather than just sending one with a splash guard. They won't even say why it doesn't have one like they are advertising.
