Great watch
I bought this watch in February because I was looking to try an automatic. I've been using Citizen Eco-Drive watches exclusively the past decade. Although my Citizen watches are great and haven't required batteries nor maintenance, I had the desire to give Seiko a try. My father has been a Seiko fan for his entire life and wears a Kinetic everyday. This is hands down one of my most pleasing purchases from Amazon. I am 100% completely satisfied with this watch. It tells great time. I usually check it against time.gov every two weeks or so and sometimes I don't even have to change it! Even when I have to change it, it has never been less or more than two minutes. The day/date are INCREDIBLY easy to read. It has the appearance that they are completely flat against the dial. Compared to my Citizen's, they are more recessed in the dial which creates a shadow/darkened appearance that makes the day/date harder to read. The hands/markers are easy to read. One thing I love about the hour markers is that the 6,9, and 12 o' clock positions are larger than the others, which makes telling time easy. The bracelet is wonderful! I absolutely LOVE the brushed steel appearance and feel. Much better than polished steel. It was also easy to adjust. The see-through caseback is a cool feature and I sometimes can't stop looking at it! The only con I would say, which probably isn't a big deal for a lot of people is the second hand. It is narrow and sometimes difficult to see against the dial when setting the time. The booklet says to pull out the crown when the second hand is at 00 position. As you can tell, this can create a problem when it is difficult to see the second hand. This wasn't something I originally cared about since I rarely have use for the second hand. Overall, great purchase and well worth the money. I will definitely buy another automatic watch and definitely another seiko. Great watch. :)

Elegant Work Horse - Excellent Value
Started a small watch collection during the pandemic, some fancy expensive ones, some not. This happens to be one of my favorites. Yes, the band is sub par, but in every other way this watch exceeds expectations. The dial is stunning in a charcoal black with the appearance changing in the light a bit which makes it all the more elegant. The applied markers and hands have excellent luminescence. The work horse Miota movement has kept excellent time (within 12 seconds a day for the past few days). I’m a fan of the 38mm size - I have a small wrist so that’s my grail size- and at 12mm thickness this fits under a cuff easily. I now own this and the silver dial version and they sit next to my higher end Swiss watches with equal elegance. If you’re on the fence, get it. This is a fantastic value for anyone looking to add to their collection or as an entry point to starting one, as it’s an EDC watch that is both work horse and looks the part. For an automatic movement under $200 you cannot go wrong!

Excellent watch, ditch the bracelet
Bottom line up front: the SNXS79 is a great watch. Although the price has gone up the past year or two it is still a bargain. Pros: an absolute looker of a watch in a perfect size (37mm) for smaller wrists. The gray sunburst dial is the star of the show here. Luxury watches costing thousands more would struggle to match this dial execution! Excellent lume for this or any price point really. The day/date complication is useful. The Cal 7S26 movement is a fully inhouse, workhorse movement that will run for decades without service and is relatively simple to adjust/regulate. A proper mechanical watch from Seiko - one of the biggest names in watches. Can be a dress watch or an everyday watch. Cons: Stock bracelet is poor. The 19mm lug width can be a challenge to find aftermarket straps and bracelets for - but they do exists. In a pinch, a 20mm leather strap will fit (see pic). The crown is small and can be a challenge to manipulate. No hacking or hand-winding. The Cal 7S26 movement's accuracy can be spotty...or can be spot on. Mine is running +3 spd, although individual results may vary.

This is a great value on a reliable and tasteful automatic
For those expecting a quartz watch (always running & super accurate), be warned. This is a great watch, but as an automatic it needs to be worn to keep time. I've had this watch for around two years, and it still looks great and keeps good time. IMO, it looks much classier in person than the picture. The detail on the watch face is very well executed, and the case is pretty shiny. The band has more of a brushed / not as shiny finish. Some hardcore watch people may want to exchange the band for something heavier, but I like it as-is. As some reviewers have noted, this watch looks a bit bigger on the wrist than the measurements would suggest. Also, this isn't a thick watch compared to other automatics - and certainly the large and growing crop of massive, Hummer-like watches - but if you're interested in a more old school / discreet look, you might take the thickness into consideration.

Classy
I have 12 watches and I wear this watch for dressier occasions. It’s not too big or small and it slides under a cuff easily. It’s a bit eye catching with the sunburst dial and keeps it from looking utilitarian. One of those watches that fits the bill, especially for the price!

Great watch
Man this is a nice looking watch! One thing to keep in mind is if you see the photos, the day is in arabic, but it has it in english too and you can switch between them. I've had this watch for 2 weeks now and I haven't had to adjust the time at all so far, so it's pretty reliable so far. The watch might fit a bit strangely because the bottom half of the watch is a bit bulky, but I got used to it pretty quick. Also the bracelet isn't the best, but it's changeable if you don't like it. Overall, I absolutely love this watch and for the price it was extremely worth it to me

Can’t go wrong
A lot of watch for the money. Great daily driver. Can wear with everything. Good introduction into mechanical watches.

Bad quality control.
The watch was just rattling around in the box when I received it. The minute hand is slightly angled up making it so that the second hand gets caught up and can’t get past the minute hand. Did a return and now being told I have to wait almost a month to get my money back. Amazon QC and service as a whole is on a rapid decline.

Elegant
My favourite wrist watch

Excellent value.
Everything about this watch is excellent, aside from the bracelet which though functional really doesn't suit the watch, nor is it easy to size. I swapped it out for a Oyster style bracelet from Aliexpress and it really makes it into a nice Rolex Oyster Perpetual homage. The grey dial is really stunning and the lume is excellent. You can't go wrong with this watch.

Punches far above what the price suggests!
The Seiko 5 is perhaps the best watch you can buy at a price anywhere close to this. Indeed, in my opinion this watch has far more in common with watches ten times its price than with its other immediate competitors. First, note that despite the product title, this is NOT a quartz watch, but an automatic mechanical watch, using Seiko's venerable 7S26 movement, which is far, far better than almost any other entry-level automatic movement I've seen. If, however, you want the accuracy and simple operation of a quartz movement, this watch is probably not for you. That said, if you've never owned a mechanical watch before, this is definitely a good way to start! This watch is well-proportioned and the design is classic, having remained mostly unchanged for years, yet isn't particularly dated. That said, this watch is very much on the smaller side, it's significantly smaller than most "current" men's watches, and the thick bezel further exaggerates the relatively diminutive dial. However, if you prefer a more traditionally sized watch, the Seiko 5 is an absolute godsend, offering a genuinely good quality, classically styled watch without the maintenance and reliability issues of buying vintage. The dial itself is clear and neat, without any clutter. The logo and hour markers are all applied, well aligned, and perfectly match the case finish. The printing on the minute track and "automatic" wording is clear, crisp and detailed. The date window is well executed and again the printing here is very good. The surface of the dial is a lovely deep grey, with a slight sunburst effect visible under bright lighting. The hands and markers have luminescent coating, and although it's a little disappointing in terms of how long it will stay bright for, it's plenty good enough for casual use. The glass is of good quality, although does pick up the odd finger smudge. As far as I know it's mineral glass rather than sapphire, but this really isn't the big problem many marketing spots make it out to be. The watch case itself is delightfully polished, and has a timeless shape with a slightly sporty retro feel to it. The display back, with glass showing the movement inside, is a very popular feature at the moment and although a little overkill on what is a rather plain, workhorse grade movement, is definitely a nice touch from Seiko. The movement itself is very good, definitely punching well above its price point in terms of quality and accuracy, although it's perhaps worth noting that it cannot be hand-wound to "top-up" or start the watch if it's wound down, the only way to wind it is through the motion of the automatic rotor. With that in mind, it does feature Seiko's patented Magic Lever system, which means it winds far more efficiently than virtually any other non Seiko movement out there. Perhaps the worst feature of the entire watch is the metal bracelet, but then it's fairly well known that this is one of the places Seiko have cut the most cost. That said, it's incredibly easy to remove the bracelet and fit a replacement strap instead, and this is something I really do recommend doing. Whether you want to go for a better quality bracelet, a classic leather strap, or a fabric strap (very fashionable right now), this watch looks good! I imagine it would look great on an old-school expanding bracelet too. I personally wear mine on a loose-weave, "tropical" style Perlon strap which gives it a very 70s explorer/adventurer feel, and to be honest the versatility is one of the great things about this watch. Something as simple as a strap change enables this watch to be very much dressed up or down as the situation demands. For me, it's the perfect all-rounder watch. It's not flashy, or a target for theft, but it has serious history and credibility and gets compliments from those who know. It's tough without being ugly, it's inexpensive without being cheap, and it's neutral enough to be suitable for most occasions without being beige and boring. Worth noting that most 20mm fabric straps will fit comfortably, although the strap lugs are actually 19mm wide, and so getting a leather strap is a little less easy, but nonetheless very much possible. Overall, I'd say that this is one of the best watches I've ever owned, at any price, simply because it gets so much right. Despite owning watches that are more "interesting" or expensive, this watch is by far my most worn watch. The combination of size, looks, reliability, comfort, and durability is something I've yet to find elsewhere. If for some reason this watch got broken or lost, I would absolutely buy another without even feeling the need to consider an alternative, and to me that's the mark of a perfect product.

Buen reloj automatico.
Perfecto reloj seiko.
