DEWALT DC9181 18-Volt Compact Lithium-Ion Battery Pack

Charge time is very fast compared to the old style DeWalt's, I love the way the give full power right up to the point that they die! No taper off with this system, its all or nothing! To the point that I have had to put a new battery on my drill just to get my drill bit unstuck! Love it!

This battery does not work in the portable vacumn cleaner, battery does not fit correctly due to the design of the plastic end plug. Different than the old metal hydride battery. Works great in the rechargeable drill and reciprocating saw, small half the size of regular battery and light weight.

I bought this battery to supplement my regular 18 volt batteries that have some memory issues and to speed up the recharge time between change outs. This one does recharge in about half the time but does not seem to run my saws quite as long as the regular 18 volt XRP did, so it seems to have a little less go time. Another thing this battery does not do is give you a clue when the charge is depleted, it just stops cutting or running the tool. I tend to run my tools pretty hard and usually need some fully charged back-ups standing by. I generally am happy with my DeWalt tools and liked the idea of trying out this Lithium-Ion, no memory recharging in half an hour vs. one hours time, however I would rate it as 4 stars simply due to what I consider reduced run time. For longer working time I will probably pay more for the full size battery next time.

I like the weight of the battery, it makes the tool easier to use particularly for my wife. I do not like the shape and how it works with my regular 18 volt tools also I do not think it last as long as its Ni Cad equivalent.

I replaced the dead and done ages old Ni-Cad 18V packs that came with my DeWalt power tool set, and wow what a difference in run times. They also keep their charge for MUCH longer so when I need one it is ready to go. They also charge very fast, and my charger can charge them so I didn't need a new charger that was a plus. I use one on my Impact Gun to remove the lugs on all my tires, and there is still loads of run time left. I have also used them for running a DeWalt flashlight in my attic and I leave it up there almost all year, and there is always light. Very good product and I have used them a long time now. They are still going strong.

This battery dies and I mean DIES if not used regularly. De Walt does not stand behind warranty. "Take to our dealer". Nearest dealer is 40 miles away

Love the Lithium batteries compared to the regular 18 volts because of how light they are. Makes my drill much easier to handle on a daily basis. Since I have so many 18 volt tools, I will be buying these batteries instead of the newer 20v lighter version they have now.

I just had a hard time getting it to charge with my charger. But with enough tinkering, it did charge.

Very light and work at least double hours than original batteries
