Smallrig quality
Again this is the second one I have now purchased for multicam use. Quality product and good value. Some small upgrades in their continued product development.

Brilliant product!
Really great shoulder rig for my BMPCC4K. Very well built and versatile for many situations. Good strong locks with no give on them once tightened. Very competitive pricing, really nothing that compares in quality for the price. The Matt box they have Also attached nicely on my 18-35 1.8.Over all very happy customer!

Fundamentally Flawed!
I tried for several weeks to make this shoulder rig work for me but I came to the conclusion that it’s a fundamentally flawed system and creates more problems than it solves. For a shoulder rig to do its job the bulk of the weight needs to sit on your shoulder, this means the camera needs to sit at the back of the rig. There lies the first problem, on a full frame camera you need a 50mm lens so you don’t end up with the front of the rig in shot. You can push the camera forward but then the weight shifts and you end up with all the weight on your wrists. With the camera set back you need an external monitor that has to be positioned in a way which doesn’t place it in view of the lens.I did try experimenting with some different parts so I could angle the rods downwards but with focussing and monitoring then becoming problematic and expensive I just gave up on it. Don’t forget the constant high angle of being on your shoulder which is again far from ideal. In the end I went with dual hand grips either side of my camera and the Smallrig chest accessory so I could pull the camera against my chest for stability. Combined with the IBIS in the Z6ii it’s perfect. This setup works well and I can see the LCD, settings etc and can easily access all of the camera controls. The build quality from the Smallrig shoulder rig is great, I just think it’s a flawed system and not really much use, YMMV.

Superb rig
Straight out the box I could tell it was the usual top class smallrig quality. Such a versatile and fantastic bit of kit

Broke first day I used it
The media could not be loaded. Purchased this rig for an event, half way through the first day of use the foam padding broke, leaving a sharp metal edge exposed digging in to me for the rest of the shoot. The rest of the rig is good value for money but the shoulder pad needs a re design

Front screw, will SCREW up your filmshoot!!!
Beware buyers. You are purchasing a product which has been barely thought out - why ON EARTH would you make a rig with a screw directly where lenses would need to be mounted? If you don't have a booster to raise your DSLR, You simple cannot use this. Thanks to such an awful design, I was screwed (pun intended) a day before my shoot when I rugged this up only to find I couldnt even use it. Smallrig have seriously dissapointes here.

screw at the front right in front of lens?!
The screw at the front is literally in front of the camera so its pointless unless you have a camera with a large body that rises above it. I have a sony a7iv mirrorless and the screw at the front was in view.
