Excellent, very high quality, smooth hinge, don't let the price scare you
Awesome! I initially balked at the price, which was twice as much as other comparable stands. But it wasn't really comparable as the other ones had bad reviews, mainly that the hinge was very firm and required a lot of pressure to lay down and stand up. So I decided to take a chance and ordered this one. I use this with my 40" 4k monitor at work and I needed something that would allow me to leave this behemoth monitor on my desk, but be able to get it out of the way when consulting with patients. Previously I had a 28" monitor on a swivel arm, but this one was too large.I got the stand and even though my monitor is larger than their size allowance, it fit well. I used a VESA adapter to adapt to the stand's configuration. The monitor, although too large, was within the weight limit Ergotron specified. I couldn't get the monitor to sit at 90 degrees, more like 75 degrees, but then realized the monitor was just a bit too large, not Ergotron's fault at all. I drilled some extra holes in my VESA adapter, only about 1/2" under the existing ones, and remounted it and voila, perfection. My monitor sits at 90 degrees, yet tilts all the way flat. The hinge mechanism is VERY smooth, I'm almost shocked at how smooth it is. It's not like the surface where you can do it with one finger, but you can flatten or stand the monitor up with a hand on each side of the monitor and only light pressure, you don't even have to get your hands on the screen itself. This pressure can be adjusted as well, so you can counterbalance it perfectly for whatever monitor you have on there. The stand itself is a nice matte black with an unobtrusive logo. Perfect for a business environment. It's very high quality and I reversed my initial misgivings about the price and now feel it is worth more than it's sold for. Especially when you understand how expensive real office hardware is for a business.

Holds positions using rock solid adjustable mechanisms and has amazing vertical tilt and vertical height range
Using this as a portable stand for a HP 23" IPS LED monitor. I have never encountered display that is this well built. Holds positions using rock solid adjustable mechanisms and has amazing vertical tilt and vertical height range. If your looking for a stealth bomber class VESA display/monitor stand - look no further.

At Last A Great Stable Stand
This stand is great, I have a Dell Inspiron One All in one TS, it came with an easel stand (awful) it was quite simple to replace that for this stand. Now I'm happy with the screen because it doesn't lean back which distorts the picture, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Awesome
Absolutely awesome! I’ve bought Ergotron products before and they’re always excellent. It does exactly what I searched and searched for a product to do. I think they should promote it more especially for the Wacom Cintiq 24 pro which is my drawing tablet. Highly recommended.

Requires monitor to have predrilled holes
Only works with certain monitors that have predrilled holes in the back. Seems sturdy but won’t work with my monitor. The ad should make it obvious that a certain type of monitor is required. My monitor is a brand new Acer and won’t work with this stand.

Since I have a touch screen monitor, I needed ...
Since I have a touch screen monitor, I needed something that was more flexible than the standard stand. Most of the flexible stands were of the articulated arm and clamp variety which really wouldn't do. After adjusting the counter balance weights, this allows me to work while standing if I want to or be sitting, with the monitor close to where my fingers can rest.
