Q: Is this good for saltwater fishing?

I work oil field boat. This reel is great for the money. Yes, after salt water use, wash it down with fresh water. About every six months (regular,average use) dismantle for full cleaning BE AWARE, the line (test) you use will affect performance and length. This size reel is ideal for brackish,salt and up to 25 lb. fish. Dynamic and design do not tale it efficiently for big fish. glad to help

Q: If used in salt water will it cause damaged or is it also salt water rated.

This reel is not saltwater resistant, If used in saltwater it must be washed with clear freshwater to remove the salt.
