Gorgeously illustrated
Like an encyclopedia of fairy history! My granddaughter who is 7 couldn’t put it down, even took it in the car to read. She loved learning the secret fairy alphabet and writing secret messages. Extraordinary book, quality that you rarely get in children’s books! Highly recommend it, especially for children who love fairies!

gorgeous, beautiful, perfect gift
This book is truly a treasure. While the subject matter is fictional, if is woven around an interesting and plausible story about a "researcher" who was secretly studying all there is to wonder about fairies.Various habitats world wide, lifecycles, anatomy, camouflage, etc. While exploring these ideas in relation to the subject of fairies, the book includes many interesting true nature facts, but intertwines them with the fairy "facts". The reader learns all sorts about differing natural habitats around the world, information that relates to insects and birds, flowers and trees, seasons, just so much real and interesting information is combined with the fairy concept, it is a joy to read, as an adult or with a child. The concept and world is fully fleshed out and very absorbing. If you want to go out and study the world around you, and enjoy the magic of looking for signs of fairies at the same time, this is just perfect. As the book incorporates so much real natural science into it, it is easy to take what you "learn" from this book and use it too observe and appreciate all the small and easily overlooked details of the natural world around you.Aside from the wholly absorbing story/ concept, he book is visually stunning and beautiful through the illustrations, and he physical book itself is georgeous. The illustrations are lovingly and exquisitely detailed, be they the fairies themselves or the natural environments they inhabit and creatures closely in their orbit. The colour palette used throughout is perfectly chosen, and is natural but not muted. The details can be poured over forever I think, by a person of any age interested in the natural world and/or echanted by fairies. The book's cover is cloth bound, with beautiful gold embossed (I think is the term?) title and detailing. Pages are gold edged. Nice touch I thought that the barcode/ISBN is a sticker that peels off, making the book feel even more "authentic" as an obscure publishing of an "unverified" book found " in the archives of the British Museum of Natural History", as stated in the "A Note from the Publisher" at the beginning of the book. :) . The only thing maybe missing would be a ribbon book mark incorporated into the binding?I would highly recommend this book, for one's own library, for a child's library, or as a gift most certainly. This book will not appeal to everyone, but for those whom it does appeal, I think it would be a real treasure. If you are considering his book for yourself or someone else, I think you would not be disappointed. And quite possibly be even more delighted and echanted that could be anticipated, as I really think this book is a true gem and treasure, and will captivate a wide audience of just about any age.
