The size seems more suitable for two years and up, but it is flexible. If your baby has a head on the larger side, it could work. If memory serves, the diameter is about 7 - 8 inches.

Would this product conform to an adult sized head?

I just tried it on myself and I think it would work perfectly fine on an adult.

Does it stay on by itself ? Or do you have to hold it on the child or adult?

The newer models come with an adjustable strap on the back to hold it on by itself. You can also just cut off the strap if you prefer to use it without.

Can I use this at the salon during the shampoo process at the sink? To prevent clients face from getting wet?

May be. My daughter uses this to put shampoo on her hair, and the shampoo doesn't get into her eyes.
