Barbie Wireless Video Camera

Contrary to the product description, this Barbie video camera does not have a functional external or detachable microphone, or a microphone jack. The hand-held microphone that comes with it is just a non-functional prop.The sound pick-up of the built-in microphone is very poor. The subject has to yell very loudly in order to be heard by the on-camera microphone.This toy might be worth the price if it really did have a functional external microphone.Another problem is that the viewfinder is very inaccurate. It only shows a very small portion of the camera's actual field of view.

I bought this for my 4 year old niece for Christmas. Although it was listed for older children, it was on the top of her list, so I got it. I visited today, and my niece and nephew (he's 7) couldn't wait to show me the videos they made and to make some more.It's very easy to use, my sister plugs it in and hands it over to them, they watch themselves on tv while they tape, and they love it! Picture quality is great for a toy.Looks like cheap plastic, but I can know they have banged it around quite a bit and it's fine.

Our five year old daughter loved this thing! She played with it non-stop, several hours each day, for four months. Of course, being only five, the poor camera was dropped on a hard surface five or six times. The last drop broke the camera to the point where the picture is completely black.Although this is an exteremely fun toy, I was disappointed in the short range of the signal between the camera and its base. It has a very poor picture/sound when the camera and base or at opposite corners of our 1500 sq foot home with no electrical interferance.This was our experience, hope it is helpful.

I bought this for my 6 year old daughter for her birthday. I can't tell you how impressed I am with this so-called toy. She always asks to use my video camera (which is the reason I bought this)but my expectations were very low. I was shocked at the distance she could go in our house. She went from room to room, upstairs, downstairs, even in closed rooms. Her and my 4 year old couldn't wait to open it and I had to fight them to get to bed. They couldn't stop. I even enjoyed it myself. Like I said, I was very impressed with its performance. I hightly recommend this camera to any child who enjoys seeing themselves on TV and also being the camerman.
