A Absolutely Beautifully Written and Illustrated Book
I cannot read this book without choking up. It is the most beautiful book to read to a child about their place in the world, their place in your heart and their place in nature. The story is sensitive, tender and full of love. It has a similar effect as the well known "I'll Love You Forever". This is a book for a child to grow with. The story is told from the point of view of a parent speaking to their child, so it is best as a gift from a parent. When I gift it for showers (which I do), I do not sign the inside so the parent can do that.Diane Hart

Touching poem, beautiful art
This book is so lovely in every way. It’s a poem about creatures on the earth who have their special places that they belong, and how it relates to your baby belonging right at home with you, and though they may travel and see the world, they’ll always belong in your heart. My 4 year old son cried when we had to return it to the library because he loved it so much, so I bought a copy. The poem is written in such a way that my son actually took it as being just for him. The words are so touching, and I tear up a little when reading the book to my boys. Even my 7.5 year old son loved the story and I could tell it warmed his heart with the smile he had on his face. I just bought another copy to gift to my friend who just became a mother. It’s really a beautiful book with soft, lovely illustrations. I will continue to purchase it in the future for friends who have babies. I highly recommend this book.

The most beautiful kid’s book
This one is a tear jerker. It’s beautifully illustrated and has the sweetest message. I bought one for my own kids and then several as gifts. It’s perfect to buy for a baby shower or a new mom!

Beautiful and full of love and light
I literally cannot read this book to my son without crying. It's such a whimsical tale of love and rips right to the heart of what belonging really means. I'm so grateful to MH Clark for her beautiful words and to Isabelle Arsenault for the absolute perfect illustrations to match. Every parent should own and read this book.Edit two years later: and now I read it to my daughter as well, experiencing all the same emotions all over again in a brand new way. This book is a joy and a gift.

My favorite book to gift at Baby Showers!
I was gifted this book at my first baby shower, and fell in love with the sweet message and beautiful illustrations. My son is a preschooler now and we still have read it consistently over the years. It’s now my go-to book to gift to all my new mom friends, and they have all loved the message too. It’s simple but so true & meaningful.

Beautiful book with a sweet, soothing message
It's interesting to me that a number of comments have such negative things to say about the message found on these beautiful pages. I don't find this book sad or limiting, I don't think in needs to be presented in a way that makes children feel guilty for exploring. I think it's absolutely possible to be soothed by the idea that you belong somewhere and to also have a discussion about how you'll belong so many other places throughout life - but always in this moment too. A lot of children have anxiety and love to hear about their place in the world. I think the illustrations are gorgeous and I'm relieved that the book came in excellent condition. I bought this for myself as a gift to celebrate my late grandmother's birthday and know that I would have adored it as a child.

Giftable and beautiful
We received this book as a gift and I absolutely LOVE the story and illustrations. I bought this one as a gift for my sisters baby shower in place of a card. I’ve personally never seen it in stores so it’s pretty unique and incredibly special.

My favorite book for Adoption gifts!
First this book is so beautiful! It has the most calming illustrations on the most lovely paper.Second, this book is so perfect for so many adoptees I know. Three of my children were adopted through foster care and we read this often and I tear up. Most adoption stories don't fit into a scripted narrative, but the sentiment that "you're where you belong.. here with me." Is the story of adoption.. all of them! So, if you're wondering what to take to an adoption celebration, you can join me, an adoptive mom, and wrap this book up for them to read together.
