Q: will this work for a sapphire radeon r9 290?

Should be. This can depent of consumition of your processor and the another things do you have conect on your computer as hard disk. I used it with a phennon II 955 Quand core overclock to 3.9 ghz and a Amd readon 7770 msi with two coolers and 4 hard disk and works pretty well.

yes, its the main power connector

Q: Will this power supply be fine with overclocked amd fx6300 and overclocked r9 380 4gb?

From what I know it's recomended to run a R9 380 with atleast a 550W PSU. This PSU will run that Card and your system just fine even though it's 530W. Plus FX 6300 is a lower powered Chip 95W if I'm not mistaken. Bare minumum this PSU would be fine but I'm a firm believer that the PSU is the 2nd most important part of a good build. If you're going High end get a Highend PSU in the 750-850W for 1 GPU and around 1000W for multiple GPUs. I purchase RAIDMAX PSUs for mid range builds...always liked thier Price along with braided modular Cables and LED fans.
