Russell Athletic Men's Cotton Baseline Short with Pockets

So i'm sitting here reading the reviews of these shorts laughing. I mean, one star for an $8 pair of shorts? lol and all these people explaining how "when they bought these same shorts 8 years ago blah blah blah ohh how they've changed" are you serious?Look, they are simple, cotton blend workout, sleep, lounge around, yard work type of shorts. They fit fine (and I should know... I'm 6'5 and 200 lbs and have dealt with ill fitting clothing and shoes for an entire lifetime). I mean, I can't speak for people who were sent the wrong item by mistake or something, yea thats frustrating, but my shorts fit exactly (actually a little better than expected) as I anticipated they would.And I reiterate.... they are an $8 pair of shorts.

I purchased 2 pair of shorts -- They were shipped together by Amazon. However Even though they were marked online with the same wording I received 2 different cuts of shorts. The Black pair of shorts which when shipped states Russell Athletic on the Tag and is quite Generous both in the waist and in the length. My Husband loves those --- They have pockets and drawstring and are 100 % cotton. He normally wears a 3XL and these fit him great he has plenty of room and feels comfortable in them. However the other pair of shorts which I ordered in a navy Blue which were shipped together with the same wording in the discription . I will upload photos of my invoice. Can you say GIRDLE !!! They also are marked 3XL, however the labels on the outside states Russell Workout - Stay Drier and more comfortable. These shorts in Blue are at least 5 inches tighter in the waist and maybe 3 inches in each leg. Crazy !!! The Blue pair also has NO Pockets ! When I ordered them they both said Russell Athletic Mens Cotton Performance. DISAPPOINTED IN THE BLUE SHORTS. HUSBAND LOVES THE BLACK ONES.

Bought a pair of the Black Heather in a Medium. Order placed June 11th, product received June 17th. I am 5'6" with a 34" waist. These fit perfectly (not too tight, not too loose--just right) at the waist and are very comfortable, baggy shorts I plan to wear knocking around the house in the summer and for sleeping. They come down to the top of my kneecaps, which is a couple of inches longer than is shown on the model, but this doesn't bother me at all. Construction appears sturdy, with the 1.25" waistband sewn tightly at the top and it looks like double sewn stitching at the bottom for even sturdier and longer-lasting wear. The two pockets are large and deep. A great pair of shorts and highly recommended.

I prefer a fabric that has some cotton versus all polyester. These have the perfect blend for my tastes. I opted for the XL size and I wear a 36 inch waist jean. They are somewhat large still even after being washed, but still comfortable. I think if I would have gotten a LG they would be a bit snug now and I like mine on the loose side. The length is about right for me too, so overall, I like the fit, material and comfort of these shorts.I generally like the Russell Athletic brand and these do not disappoint - at a very good price point.

I purchased this product to replenish my previously purchased (and worn out) Russell Athletic Cotton Jersey Pull-On Shorts (ASIN B000783UU2). It was difficult to tell from the product descriptions if this product was different. Once received, I could tell that it was different. The fit is similar, however the legs of this product are slimmer. That wasn't really a problem. The material itself is also thinner, and the elastic in the waistband was so loose, these shorts would not stay on my hips. I had to return them, as there was no way these shorts were going to stay "up". Fortunately, the Russell product that I do like (B000783UU2) is still available, though certainly more expensive. Well worth the added cost, though for a product that I can wear and have a reasonable expectation of product life.Pro: Inexpensive, lightweight/Con: Worthless waistband elastic. thin material, single stitch seams

Russell used to make some pretty good quality athletic wear. This is not one of them. The material is thin. The threading at the seams started coming apart the first time the shorts went through the wash. The waist band elastic started detaching by the third washing. The shorts are coming apart (see photos). Russell really cheaped out on the materials and workmanship on these shorts.I bought the Champion Men's Jersey Shorts with pockets at the same time that I bought these Russell Athletic Men's pocket shorts. I figured that I'd compare the two brands of sport shorts and order more of the one I liked best. The Champion shorts I ordered have much better quality with sturdier materials and construction. I won't order any more Russell.
