Troublesome, but worked out in the end
First, the UNO works great - no complaints there. It's the complete lack of documentation and unhelpful URLs that is irksome. While I spent crazy amount of hours on this, I did reach out to SainSmart for help. They sent me a URL link which just has Text graphics demo programs. I downloaded the suggested UNO.Zip, but it still did not work, I even called up the phone and discussed the problem. With the new Zip file, at least one thing was certain I was able to compile and upload the sketch. I did look into the C headers, there was nothing unusual about them. Here’s what I did which made it work - I dismantled the set and just mounted the shield on the UNO and hooked it to the USB. I then mounted the LCD later, ensuring the LCD did not touch the jumpers on the shield.I uploaded the program again - and presto, it was up and running. So far so good, I have it up for a couple of hours now - ran the text rotation and just the Text display - they seem to be working fine. For the UNO, change the default Mega pin setup to UTFT myGLCD(ITDB32S,19,18,17,16); I hope that helps.

Great Affordable Project Display
Like ALL SainSmart items, be prepared to spend a few hours researching to get the item up and running but it does work. The UNO worked right out of the box with standard Arduino libraries and the shield was no problem but the screen took some digging. Here's where to get the proper library for this display:[...]Download the UTFT.zip library and install the library into Arduino. Take the time to read the documents provided in the .zip library for a better understanding of this code and how it will work with this display since the code is a universal code which can be used with many different displays. To use with this display, set the pins in the code to match the following:UTFT myGLCD(ITDB32S,A5,A4,A3,A2);This will set the pins on display to match Arduino and shield. Note: without using memorysaver included with .zip, you will not have much space for your application code hence this display would probably be better suited for MEGA rather than UNO. Otherwise it is a very cost effective display for your project. Hope this helps.

I got this item in and looks good, just hard to get a code
I got this item in and looks good, just hard to get a code. But the Sainsmart company was quick to give me basic code for the UNO, so I could test it. It works fine for the demo. It is going to be a great project for me.
