You can wipe off the front with a damp cloth. I wouldn't put it in the washing machine. You can probably hand wash the straps and let them air dry or wipe it down with a cloth.

Q: Is this bag waterproof or water resistant?

I've never tested if its completely waterproof (by submerging in water) but it's definitely water resistant. If caught in the rain you won't have any issue with the contents inside getting wet. The front is waterproof but the sides and back are a type of canvas used for book bags. This bag is great quality for the price. I definitely recommend.
