Interesting book
For me, this book cover several important topics, but I hoped more architecture examples to explore differents alternatives to implement on AWS.

Good book
It does cover very little networking, vpc , direct connect, … but good resource otherwise, to learn some more about aws and its component.

Alt title :: Everything you ever wanted know about Architecting on AWS...and then some
Alberto has provided an encyclopaedic compendium of what a modern architect needs to know to use the cloud and the AWS cloud specifically. The book ties this knowledge together and brings it to life with examples, anecdotes and explanations. If you are, or aspire to be, a cloud architect using the AWS cloud, this is the resource you are looking for. Well-organized and accessible, the material is digestible without skimping on substance. For those who may be new to the AWS cloud, the section on use cases for key AWS services helps the reader navigate the almost overwhelming number of services in the AWS ecosystem and transitions into how those services apply in the broader categories of software, platform and infrastructure. And if, as one colleague wrote, "data is the new oil in the economy", then the section on selecting and deploying data-related services will be of value to all--architects, developers or admins--who choose to work within the AWS Cloud. For experienced cloud architects or those with some AWS experience, the sections on Patterns and Reference Architectures can help you do the job now. And while the potential of these architectures are covered in some detail via clearly articulated best practices for each, this is not "technology cheerleading". Honest discussion of the benefits of particular concepts (eg., event-driven architectures) are balanced with a sober assessment of their limitations or risks. If you work on enterprise client projects, the section on Data Lake patterns is particularly relevant as these organizations look to turn data into insight. Like other sections, though, this section discusses the many non-technical pre-requisites (data governance and data quality for example) that are the hallmarks of a successful real-world project. If there is any part of the book that fails to live up to the overall high standards, it might be the section on hands-on labs. The section provides a good review of various tools, programming languages, etc., but the actual hands on activities are somewhat difficult to convey in this medium.Overall, this book has something of value to offer everyone who is already, or hopes to be, working in the AWS cloud. Nicely done!

Riddled with typographical errors
This book needs a solid editing. My edition had entire sections that were duplicated, numerous typos, and placeholders that were never filled in. These issues eroded my confidence of the book's actual content. If you are brand new to cloud computing and can overlook the typographical issues, this book may provide a nice overview. But if you are looking for in-depth material about designing cloud infrastructure, look elsewhere.I bought my edition new in July 2021:ISBN 978-1-78953-923-3First published: Jan 2021Production reference: 1210121

Repetitive and exhausting. Poorly edited.
So many words saying so little. It's like the author was paid by word count. Full paragraphs that could have been reduced to a sentence. Exhausting! Also this is poorly edited, and poor is an understatement. Whole sections *duplicated* ! I feel cheated to have bought this book.

This is a MUST READ for any architect working in AWS.
I'm more than half way through the book, but I didn't want to wait until I finished to write a review. If there are other architects out there like me who are just starting their journey working in the cloud, then you'll want to get this book. This is one of those books that you'll keep on your (virtual) desk and go back to.I got my AWS Cloud Practitioner certification this past December, and felt overwhelmed with the amount of training videos and information being presented. I wish I had this book because the first two sections does a great job of presenting that same information in a clearer and concise way so that the user starts with a solid foundational understanding.I'm halfway through the third section of Architectural Patterns and Reference Architectures and I can't believe how much of my learnings I've been able to apply to my projects. I have a better understanding of the designs being proposed by the consultant development teams, and feel confident that my feedback to the team ensures that the solution adheres to our architecture guidelines and principles and aligns with the overall IT strategy.I wasn't sure if I wanted to get other AWS certifications, but this book has changed my mind. AWS Certified Solutions Architect... I'm coming for you.

The most comprehensive book out there for AWS solution architects
This book covers all the important aspects of architecting an AWS solution. It addresses not only the major popular AWS services such as S3, EC2, and RDS, but it also looks into the data analytics and big data services offered by AWS such as Glue, Athena, and others.I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who works with AWS on a constant basis. This book will easily save many hours of research and get right to the point. I also love the hands-on labs for those people who like to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty!

Outstanding Study and Reference for AWS, which includes Serverless.
The book covers current (2021) exam topic according to AWS exam blueprint, provides a few inside information on how AWS works, although not needed for exam. Having hands on in AWS is the most effective way of learning and fixing concepts for the exam and when working with it. Mostly it covers the new AWS patterns to achieve scalability and agility in your cloud solutions. My opinion is that the authors are truly subject matter experts who actually know how to write. The editors did a great job publishing this book.

great content - numerous text errors
This book has a lot of great content that is hard to find on the internet in such a well prepared way. I especially like that next to technical information there is also a high level "strategical" view on the cloud (e.g. from a business perspective). On the negative side, I have to mention that there are many avoidable errors like typos or mixed up technical terms which can be quite confusing. All in all a good starting point to become an aws solutions architect for someone with previous IT experience (and probably some basic aws knowledge as well).

Great book
I love the book. You need some basic knowledge on AWS. I would suggest to wait for a second edition since a revision would be great to improve the content.

Filled with gramatical errors - content is fine
A good enough book. The content is fine. It's all accurate in terms of aws. However, this is filled with spelling mistakes, missing words and repetitive turn of phrases. Editors need to do their jobs properly.
