WALABOTDIY Plus X Visual Wall Scanner - Compatible with Android Smartphones

I LOVE this product: it's always driven me crazy trying to absolutely determine with precsions EXACTLY how much of a stud I was anchored into when hanging heavy mounts, etc, & I always lusted after the kind of near-magic X-ray vision the Walabot commericals showed...& dang if they weren't 100% accurate!There are some VERY sophisticated stud-finders out there from companies that have DEDICATED their R & D & product lines to the old-fashioned "beep when I get there" type devices, not to mention Bosch's several-hundred-dollar professional model(s)...& they might as well not bother, since this one not only runs circles around them, but it's like stripping off a blindfold those other products make you wear.I'll never go back...& I'm dang glad I spent the money on this.Required app oesn't work w/my (Android 11) Z5158 phone—but it fails on many APKs: just be aware.

Had difficulty making the App work on my phone, until I got support from Walabot customer service. It shouldn't be that difficult to get it up and running.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this. I bought it to locate an air conditioning line set in a wall. We weren't sure which wall it came up in and didn't want to cut a bunch of exploratory holes in other walls to find it. I tested it with known studs and pipes in my own walls to get a feel for how it identifies things. It found studs easily, and picked that I have as a chase pipe in my wall. It found the copper lines as something like 'pipe or electrical' (something like that). Would be better as a single piece with a screen of its own instead of how it uses your phone. Makes it a bit less user friendly. It does work though, no doubt about it. It saved more than the cost of it in repairing exploratory holes.

I stopped in the middle of a project to write this I am so fed up with the thing. I have used it on a few projects now over the past few months and can now say, don't waste your money.First issue, you have to sign into an account to use it. WTF it is a stud finder.Second issue, just let me get to finding studs. You try and teach me about types over and over. I GET IT, you want to feel useful. You can only pause this pop-up for month then it will pop up again.That leads into the pop-ups. No I don't want a warranty, leave me alone. I doubt the warrantywill cover malevolent hammer damage or blow torch damage.Finally, recalibrating this piece. EVERY.SINGLE.TIME Don't go to fast or too small cuz then it will never find a stud. Did you close the app or did the cable pop off, whelp you have to recalibrate. I have never had to recalibrate my old stud finder and it works better and faster.There, now I feel better. Seriously, it would be faster to just cut you wall open and then patching then using this thing. I was so excited for it as well, which makes it all the more disappointing.

The product is ok, but it definitely doesn't show you if it's a stud,pipe,etc it just shows up as a hatched line... I've tried to do it differently but it comes out the same your almost better off just using a regular stud finder.

This is better than any electronic gadget tool than any iPhone or anything else. I don't write for most things but this one compelled me to write one. What a relief! Before I bought this, I drilled through a Pax pipe which cost me $325 to fix the leak. This one key is you must calibrate, and you have Android phone. And you ae on the go. You must have some technical skill common sense, no matter how sophisticated a tool you are using that includes experts in any field. Using your brain and tools can be a life saver. One should know where to kick.

It is a good tool but it needs a better way to hold on the phone. It gets quite a bit use when you first move into a new residence so it paid for itself there. I have demonstrated to some contractors and they have purchased them for their tool box.

Purchased this tool to use during structural home inspections. I had hoped that clients would be able to look over my shoulder, and "see" the framing making it easier to explain to homeowners what is behind the wall. The calibration process needs to be done every time you take the device off the wall, and it takes several large swirls to calibrate. This takes way too long for my use, and it sounds like the wall is being damaged (even though it was not). Love the concept, but it doesn't work for me. I'll stick to a standard stud finder but look forward to seeing the next generation product from Walabot.

One of my best purchases to date! This little guy has saved me so much time. I'm the handy woman at home and love to improve things on a regular basis by replacing baseboards, installing crown moldings, patching drywall, etc and the WALABOT DIY Plus X Visual Wall Scanner has been fantastic. There is nothing worse than doing a repair only to find that you have totally missed the studs in the wall - or even worse....nailed through an electrical wire or pipe! I look forward to see what else this little baby can do!! Highly recommend!
